There are several different chicken salad recipes out there, but this is a bit different and is a lunch that fills you up just enough without making you fall asleep!
Apricot Pecan Chicken Salad
Cooked, chopped white chicken (grocery stores sell this in the deli section) or use leftover rotisserie chicken
A small handful (about 8) dried apricots
A small handful of candied pecans (less is more)
a couple stalks of celery
a small spoonful of apricot…

You should never completely deprive yourself of something you want, in fact having a treat when are craving it is no problem--unless you start doing it everyday. so here are a few treats that help me get through
1. 100 cal packs of popcorn (not sweet but satisfying)
2. A couple ounces of juice (a tropical juice works well) with the rest of the glass filled with sparkling water. Tastes like a refreshing soda
3. A cup of sugar free hot chocolate
4. Fake pudding pie-In a…

You should eat breakfast, especially if you want to lose weight or just be healthy
Why?
I was listening to the radio and they said that people who don't eat breakfast will consume about 30% calories a day than those who do eat breakfast. Furthermore, those who don't eat breakfast are 450 times more likely to be overweight!!!
Also, eating breakfast has been shown to lower your risk of diabetes (has to do with blood sugar control). It also definitely helps keep you…

On this website most of you know that the scale number is not the most accurate way to measure your health. Most people aren't sure where to start, how much to eat or where they lie on the healthy to obese scale. DO NOT TRUST MOST WEBSITES. Most websites do not accurately calculate this at all. It is impossible for a website to accurately calculate your BMI, you really need a person to take body fat tests on you. This website however, is the most accurate I have seen so far. Check this website…

Friends and family aren't always very nice and will even try to sabotage you sometimes when you are trying to lose weight or after you have lost it.
Why?
Even though they say they love you, they can sometimes feel jealous. they may not admit that, but that is what it usually boils down to. They can also fear that you will become anorexic, obsessed with weight loss or exercise. They might also fear you will try to criticize them, their lifestyle and their weight. Also, sometimes…

In my last blog I mentioned that you should buy yourself something to motivate you to wok out. Here is a fantastic option-the Sansa Clip.
This little MP3 player makes your workouts so much more enjoyable. you can now run on a treadmill without getting tangled up in cords, worrying about where you are going to put your iPod, having your iPod bounce around in your pocket or fall out, or have to watch whatever random things they have on the TVs at the gym!
You can easily use…

Today I got up and went to go work out in my living room and as I was starting the warm-up I realized I didn't want to work out. I was freezing, my muscles were all tight, I felt like quitting and I had just begun.
I made myself do it anyway. I went through my workout and I forgot that i hadn't wanted to start it. When i finished and was racking my weights I said out loud to myself, "I am glad I did that." And I really was happy I had.
Since I make part of my living by…

First and foremost, do not make your resolution to get on a diet!
No diets allowed!
Why? It's all the rage now to call it a "lifestyle change" but honestly, that is what it needs to be. You need to make a decision to be healthy forever. Not just so you can be whatever size you have stuck in your head. You need to look at this as an every day thing from now on. Make healthy choices daily. Does this mean you don't ever get to indulge again? No. It means use every time you…

Losing weight or being in shape require two things, eating well and exercising properly. Here is a simple way to help give you some results with your exercise. Our body adapts to whatever we are doing, so to see results, you need to change things up a bit.
24 Hour Fitness has this FITT model, which isn't exclusive to them, but the word "FITT" is. If you aren't getting results you want, this is the easiest place to start. This model applies mainly to…

It may be a little late, but you may have some more parties to attend. This post is an extension of the post "watch out for cold weather eating"
1. Eat throughout the day
Some people starve themselves during the day thinking they are saving up their calories for the party that night. Wrong! What they end up doing is consuming far more calories than they ever would have consumed because they are starving and end up not being able to control themselves. Not mention not…

I like to mix my cardio and weights together in supersetting, but if you want to do both in one workout session, which do you do first? If your goal is weight loss...
Cardio then weights
Why?
1. Psychology-
If you do a hard weight routine, your muscles will feel worn out and you will feel like collapsing if you attempt cardio afterwards. Your brain and your body will both be tired, leading you to have a less effective weight workout and a less…

As you may have noticed, I am in the Bachelor Pad Cheesecake contest. Being in this contest has made me wonder what some other people are thinking. Especially in a contest, girls can become catty, judgmental and vicious.
So here is the scoop on me...
My whole life I was just the nerd, really. Which isn't so bad, I worked a lot on my personality and my intellect because that was all I had going for me. I had crooked teeth, frizzy hair and was always overweight. When I was 9…

I am always looking for healthy, low calorie foods that still taste good. These new Light Progresso soups are really great. A whole can is about 160 calories and you won't eat a whole can yourself. I have only tried the chicken noodle and beef pot roast flavors but they are really great. Definitely flavorful and filling.
Costco is selling packs of the chicken noodle and beef pot roast together.
Soup is great because of the volume it takes up in your stomach, it makes you feel…

If you don't wear a good sports bra, exercising can make your breasts sag! High-impact activities, particularly jogging or aerobics, can stress your Cooper's ligaments, the connective tissue that keeps breasts firm. Compression bras work best for smaller-busted women; the more well-endowed (typically a C cup or larger) need an "encapsulation" bra that supports each breast separately. Replace workout bras about every 6 months.
Here are some good ones:
Believe it or not Wal…

I bet you never knew that stores are actually stocked in a way that leads you to buy food that is worse for you??
Stick to the Perimeter
So in order to stay fit, one way is to modify how you shop. You should stick to the perimeter of the store, only go into the center aisles if you have something very specific to buy. Like oatmeal, pickles, water, etc. DO NOT just wander the aisles, even if you have a list!! All the high calorie foods are stocked in the aisles, the ones…

In November's issue of Self magazine, it states that a Texas A&M study showed the in teh time between Thanksgiving and New Year's day Americans eat
619 extra calories per day. Let me break this down for you, in 5 weeks you would gain 6.5 pounds!!!!!!
So the plan of attack is:
1. Be proactive
Just because you are busy doesn't give you an excuse not to exercise. Move! I don't care if it is going on a walk through the mall. 30 minutes on most days. This also raises your…

Cinnamon is not just a dessert spice. Cinnamon has antifungal, antibacterial, digestive and blood sugar stabilization properties to it. It can help with memory and cognition (creates a strong sensory memory which returns when the spice is used again.) It is even thought to help kill the bacteria H. Pylori, which causes ulcers. Cinnamon also lowers LDL cholesterol. People also often notice that cinnamon helps to lower appetite and cravings for sugar.
Cinnamon has been proven now to…
