I bet you never knew that stores are actually stocked in a way that leads you to buy food that is worse for you??
Stick to the Perimeter
So in order to stay fit, one way is to modify how you shop. You should stick to the perimeter of the store, only go into the center aisles if you have something very specific to buy. Like oatmeal, pickles, water, etc. DO NOT just wander the aisles, even if you have a list!! All the high calorie foods are stocked in the aisles, the ones with the most preservatives too. Stores were designed this way for easier restocking of quickly perishible items (meat, dairy, vegetables) So all along the perimeter are the food that are actually healthiest and freshest.
Shop High and Low
Another thing you probably never knew, the shelves themselves trick you! You need to shop high and low. What does that mean? Shop on the high shelves adn the low shelves but stay away from the middle, that is where the put the worst most tempting food. Think about it, which will sell more, Captain Crunch on the center shelf right in front of your face or Fiber One on the center shelf? So the healthier items are always found in hard to spot places, like the top shelf. Check next time you are in the store!
