Not so much.....

After being mistaken about which hospital I was going to (evidently there are TWO St. Anthony hospitals......) and then getting lost inside once I finally arrived, I got my newborn fix. Oh....My........ GOODNESS.

While listening to the soft squeaks and mews coming from Peyton's sweet little mouth and gazing into her big black eyes, I felt a couple tears welling in my own. Oh, that baby smell and that soft, satiny skin. Yummy!!!!! As I talked with my friend while she breastfed and… Continue

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, BABY!!!!

At 7pm tonight I will be at St Anthony's visiting a friend from work who gave birth just two days ago. This will be the first time, in the last 5 years, for me to hold a newborn that WASN'T my own!!! I'm excited. I love newborn babies.... the way they look and smell. What precious, beautiful and amazing little creatures they are. I'm going to snuggle and make googly eyes at this tiny miracle of life...perhaps change a diaper and watch her sleep and then I will take this sweet, innocent and… Continue

So close, yet so far away........

Do you know that feeling, when you are so close to something you could ALMOST touch it? A goal you are on the brink of reaching but can't quite seem to get there?

Now, I have always been one of those people who preaches the whole "if you want something bad enough you will have it"..... the old "dreams do come true ," spiel. But, I am leaning quickly toward the reality that there are just some things, no matter HOW bad you want them, that you can't have.

In my quest to… Continue

I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, "Mother, what was war?" ~Eve Merriam

American Revolution

What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbors, and to devastate the fair face of this… Continue

In Memory of.....

Beach Burial

Softly and humbly to the Gulf of Arabs

The convoys of dead sailors come;

At night they sway and wander in the waters far under,

But morning rolls them in the foam.

Between the sob and clubbing of gunfire

Someone, it seems, has time for this,

To pluck them from the shallows and bury them in burrows

And tread the sand upon their nakedness;

And each cross, the driven… Continue

Really?

Sex scenes in movies should not make a person cry, am I right?

Last night, I burst into tears during the inevitable sex scene of this movie we were watching. It wasn't even a FABULOUS one. I mean, it was alright but nothing out of the ordinary. No T&A, just romantic.... a lot of passionate smooching and touching noses, the whole time unable to take their eyes off of one another. BLAH, BLAH BLAH.......whatever.

Anyway, I've felt a LOT of things watching sex scenes but… Continue

100% Cotton

Children have their "security blankets" for self comfort... sucking a thumb, a favorite toy, a tattered blankie, so I figure why the hell can't I have one too?

Lately, in my moments of feeling self destructive, anxiety ridden and depressed, I wrap myself up in my favorite cotton material and sit on my bed, cross-legged, in a sort of meditative state. That's right, I said cotton; plain, 100%, white cotton. It's actually VERY therapeutic. I just sit, with my eyes closed, breathing in… Continue

I'm too old for this s***!

Ok, no more all-nighters with the ladies! I'm too old for that much alcohol and NO sleep. Just thought it would take my mind off of things. No such luck.

What's in a smile?

In researching the affects of smiling, it has been found that receiving a smile can be more pleasurable than the titillation derived from sex. According to tests, smiles can produce a higher level of stimulus to our vital organs than that of having a cigarette. Of course, the amount of pleasure we receive from a smile depends on who the smile is coming from and how they are smiling. Obviously, one does not feel the same sensation from seeing their child smile as they would from an a doofy grin… Continue

"It's like having two c*&@s.... if one of your c*&@s could shoot someone."

The day started out hectic with my youngest defecating in her pants and me failing to bring extra diapers and wipes to the gym cutting my workout time in half. Then, I tried to get the grocery shopping done since I was out and about but by this time the troops were hungry and grumpy which turned everything sour quite quickly! (Crazy how the slightest change in routine will upset children SO much.) Anyway, I was feeling really crappy and exhausted but now my day has completely turned around. I… Continue

Call me crazy....

So, in trying to decipher whether I truly love something or just love the idea of it, I have come to this conclusion:

It doesn't matter. It motivates and inspires me. It gives me hope of the future. Whether it's false hope or not... it's there. I have something to look forward to in my mind.... reality or not.

I have gotten a lot accomplished so far because of it and for that I am grateful. Who cares if I am living in a little fantasy world of my own creation? If it's what… Continue
