A week in Petaluma

I came to California on August 13th, arriving in San Francisco International Airport. I guess I made the immigration officer scratch his head a lot about the length of my stay - but most importantly, he didn't have me deported on the spot.

A supermodel cat

One of my cats get me worried - real worried. I know she has a strange habit of eating very little in the summer time but this summer she got me real worried. You should see how thin she's getting! Some friends of mine try to comfort me by saying it's the change of fur that makes her look so thin but I can see better it's not. Her sister is SO big, fluffy and heavy - and this poor little darling is starting to resemble an anorectic Siamese [she's not a Siamese - just her facial features somehow… Continue

Conquest of California

Dear Diary...



Having handled all the necessary inconveniences such as a long train trip to Warsaw and back in sweltering heat and absolutely no air conditioning, I've become a happy owner of American Visa.



Soon afterwards I became an anxious owner of a there-and-back plane ticket to San Francisco! Anxious, cause I've never been on a 15 hours flight or alone abroad. As the date approaches, my knees feel weaker and weaker. It doesn't much matter that the flight is on 13'th… Continue

All professors were in awe for her Master in pin-up art

Yessir! I finally made it and am now an official Master of Arts diploma holder. And a double one, too! One diploma is a Master in art critique - that's the Master of Pin-ups one ;). The second one is sculpting. Look on MySpace for Mystery Benelli and you will be able to see the pictures. I didn't want to post them here cause they are not pin-up stuff... and I suppose it wouldn't be okay to post something unrelated.

I dream of a massage...

I mentioned a light in the tunnel... Yes - you guessed it! It was a train coming! The train's name was "Investment casting and firing ordeal'. Let me tell you - it's not a job for a frail woman. My back still hurts not to mention sore arms I got after breaking down all 8 of them [investments] in one day. It seems there is still an incredible load of work ahead of me - no, I'm not seeing any lights this time.

Operation "W.A.X."

At ease!

Well, I finally get to see a light in the tunel called My Diploma Sculptures. I've happily reached the point when I was able to cast them in wax - and amazingly nothing broke off! Now the things left to do is attaching inlets for air and metal, making the investment (one DIRTY job!), getting it cast in metal (thank goodness I don't have to do it... I'm at the same time happy and worried... cause the school's foundry is a notorious mess-up and i won't get to cast a copy of my work… Continue

Master of pin-ups

Working in a cole mine... Ehm! Well, I'm not working in a cole mine, but what I'm doing right now feels strangely close to it!

I'm writing my graduation thesis on pin-ups for one of my majors. And even though I usually don't have any major writing problems, this doesn't come all that easy. It's often VERY tempting to indulge myself to a couple of moments of doing something else... oh distractions, distractions...! And the deadline is coming!
