Unfortunately, a lot of the more heavily-caffeinated treatments can have that result, because what they do immediately is draw all the water out of the affected area, water that is actually plumping up and smoothing out the surface, but breaking up the fatty deposits takes longer, so the dimply look remains and yes, often looks worse at first :(
I've tried more than a few products and the one I have had the absolute best luck with is, believe it or not, a St. Ives lotion. It's called Cellulite Shield Total Body Cellulite Control, and it's just wonderful. Comes in a big orange bottle, 18 oz for around $7, has a really nice citrus scent, and one of the things I like most about it is that you use it like a regular lotion, not a spot treatment. It smooths out cellulite where you have it and tones the skin everywhere else. They say you will see results in about 2 weeks, and I really did see results in that time frame. (And no, I don't work for them ;) ) I get it at www.drugstore.com but you can probably find it at most regular drugstores.

Surprisingly enough, I have had the best luck with Fitflop sandals. I used to dance (ballet, tap, jazz, etc) for 10 years, and even though that was the best shape I've ever been in, my thighs are smaller and smoother from just wearing my Fitflops! I wore them everyday when I first got them and my boyfriend (we all know how observant they are...) noticed a change after 2 or 3 months. It was that significant.
I've been thinking about the Nivea lotion or gel that's been advertised lately... has anyone tried it? I may try the St Ives lotion first, though. On top of my Fitflops, a lotion might make me almost cellulite free!
keeping areas that have cellulite hydrated is best. Lots of good Aveeno lotion has worked for me! Drink TONS of water (like, 3 liters a day). It will help your body stay hydrated, and keep your skin from drying and moving away from the tissue beneath. The next thing, is exercise. I know that seems like a common sense thing, and we all want to keep our curves, but cellulite, among other causes, is literally a build up of Excess fat. So if you get rid of the excess, you'll get rid of the cellulite.
The last thing? Relax! "A high stress lifestyle will cause an increase in the level of catecholamines, which have also been associated with the evolution of cellulite" - American Journal of Medicine. ;)
Yeah, I don't nearly the 64oz a day I'm supposed to but I can get pretty close. I average about 36-48oz a day. I run 4 times a week and I'm between a size 4-6 but they say no matter how thin you are, you always have some cellulite.

I can't agree with the "no matter how thin you are" motto. I didn't have a stitch of cellulite until I gained weight from pregnancy. Which probably has a ton to do with hormones as well. But yeah...it's not how thin you are, it's your percentage of body fat mostly. I know some girls that are rail thin, but have a high body fat percentage. (I'm not saying that about you, I'm just saying in general) :) My stepmom, for example, is 5'4, weighs 100lbs and has some of the worst cellulite I've EVER seen! And it's because she has an extremely high body fat percentage for her hight/weight ratio.

Yeah, sounds about right. I lost 25-30lbs over 2 years ago and I look better but I have some patches on my bootie and hips that are probably never going to go away.
