Gosh I love the Yahoo Frontpage, always such interesting little articles! Here's my latest favorite:

We all know about soda cans (or beer cans!) as replacement hair curlers, but that coffee grinds thing is amazing! Too bad I don't ever, ever drink coffee (therefore have no grinds), I want to try it and see how well it works!!

How about you guys, what are your top beauty secrets from stuff-already-lying-around-the-house?

i always heard that milk baths rejuvenate your skin but i've never bought enough milk to fill a bath tub, so i haven't tried it out yet. lol =) but that's the only one i can think of.
Caffeine does help get rid of cellulite; that's why it's in most anti-cellulite creams, but I've never tried actual coffee grounds! Baking soda is good for lots of stuff: add it to your shampoo once a week to get rid of product buildup. Add it into your facial cleanser for a gentle exfoliator. And of course, we all know it helps whiten teeth when you add it to your toothpaste!
I've taken a milk bath, it was pretty gross. I felt like I needed another bath. LOL.
I LOVE milk baths, particularly in winter. The easiest way to do it is to use evaporated (not condensed) milk. 6 or 8 cans in a tub works great.

Cornmeal is wonderful. I use it 1) mixed with water on my knees, elbows and heels to slough off the dead skin. 2) mixed with baking soda when my nose and chin need that little extra deep cleansing. 3) mixed with a little dab of honey to exfoliate my lips when they get chapped.

Oatmeal is another good one. Grind it up into a powder and mix it with either milk or water (depending on how dry your skin is) and use it as a mask, or throw a cup into your bath water, it's wonderful.

Posting the article here so that it is saved:

If you caught even a glimpse of the nine-minute video of Lady Gaga and Beyonce's "Telephone," you saw some pretty weird stuff. But what we noticed in the world of beauty were the soda cans Gaga wears in her hair during the course of the video. She told E! News the video is about, "the idea that America is full of young people that are inundated with information and technology." But what about the soda cans? Turns out it's a DIY beauty trick! Gaga said her mom used to put soda cans in her hair as a kid to hold her curls longer, and Gaga still does this today! She was spotted at a Sydney airport sporting the same look this week. In honor of Gaga and her beauty prowess, here are other ways your everyday household items can double up in your beauty routine.

Soda Cans

Mama Gaga knew what she was talking about. Big in the 60s, this is a great way to set hair for those large, barrel curls. Ladies then used to sleep in them all night (ouch!), but for a quicker, less painful approach, dry and roll hair with a soda can, and use a duckbill clip to hold. The longer the cans stay in, the better your curls will hold. Mist with a long lasting hairspray as a finishing touch.

Coffee Grinds

Your favorite morning perk can also help ward off cellulite. Rub grounds on your thighs, or wherever those pesky marks show up and wrap with plastic wrap for 30 minutes. The grinds will reduce cellulite marks within a few days.

Avocado

This yummy fruit is great for a face mask, but also for repairing damaged and fried hair. For a DIY deep conditioning treatment, cut it up into small pieces and mash together with a few tablespoons of olive oil. Wash your hair as you normally would and apply the avocado mask in your hair, working it through with a comb. Let sit for ten minutes and rinse.

Tomato Juice

We've all seen the Brady Bunch episode where tomato juice saves the day when one of the Brady boys are attacked by a skunk, but did you know it also gets rid of that weird, greenish hue your hair gets from too much pool time in the summer? Especially for lighter hair colors, chlorine can wreck havoc on your hue when exposed to the elements too often. To keep your strands shiny, apply the juice straight from the can and work through with a comb. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing out.
I use sugar as an exfoliator in the shower. I use it on my skin before I shave so help get rid of dead skins cells that can dull the razor blade. I also use it on my face mixed with a little Noxzema (be careful not ot scrub to hard) and on my feet, elbows, and knees. I like it because it dissolves in the water and if it gets in you mouth it doesn't taste gross.
Oh yes, sugar! I've heard of this before, must start using it! Thanks~

Do you use regular sugar or raw sugar? I've tried raw, but I'd love to hear that regular works as well, since it's certainly much less expensive :)

Coarse, unrefined sugar mixed with baby oil & your favorite aromatherapy oil (I use tea rose) to make a loose paste is a great exfoliating scrub. Use it after you wash in the tub or shower all over your body, rinse, and then drip dry. The baby oil moisturizes as you exfoliate to make your skin ultra soft & supple! I do it once a week for maintenance.
If you need to tighten your pores, or you need to get rid of zit quicker, scramble the yolk of an egg and apply it to your face. When it's completely dry, rinse it off.
Really? Another thing I'll have to try, because one of the things I hate about my face in photo shoots is the area around my nose where my pores are huge... Thanks!

Also, thanks Dolly, that sounds sublime!
