Can a girl with black skin be a pin up?

Hi Ladies! I'm new here and I want to ask a question I had in my mind since I discovered pin up. I looked some discussions and I didn't find something explaining this, and If this isn't in the right place I'm sorry :(

 

My question is: Can a black girl be a pin up? A lot of people told me this cannot be possible because every pin up girl has white skin, and the make up they wear is special for that skin.

Absolutely!  Being a pin up these days isn't limited to what color skin you have.  And if you're looking for inspiration, check out Lena Horn or Billie Holliday.  These ladies looked every bit Old Hollywood, or Pin Up Glamour.

Why not?

The historical time of traditional pin-ups still had a lot of racism going on, so few black women were considered for mainstream artwork, but the black communities had their own thing going on, and the art does exist! Don't let anyone get away with telling you that you can't be what you want to be.

I am also of mixed heritage. I keep seeing these images of African American stars from the 40's and 50's, Lena, Billie...but, I don't really see how those examples answers the question....lol

lemme stick my 2 cents in... I run a pinup website featuring well pinups that I like.

 

skin color doesn't figure into it one little bit so I've had white girls, black girls, and every shade in between

to me pinup is about the attitude not the color of your skin, your body type, hair color or any of that crap...

 

so now I'm off to look at your pics :)

Wow! Thats horrible!Your super cute girl friend... DO YOU! Do what makes you feel good. Be confident, and successful in the things that you aspire and that girl, is also the polite way of saying "F" you to the people who told you, you could not. Being a Pin-Up is about how you see yourself its not bound by colour... We all joined this site cause we identify with the pin-up aesthetic.

 

The only thing you cant be is what you dont want to be, never ever limit yourself especially because of skin tone.
