What's your favorite? What pieces are essential under your vintage and retro dresses?

Personally, I never wear a dress without an open bottom girdle underneath. Not only does it hold my tummy in and keep my butt from jiggling too much, it also holds up my stockings. I also like to wear a corset/cincher under tight dresses to make my waist just a little tinier.

Under high waisted pants I wear a spanks...just for that extra firmness and to keep my tummy in.

I've never wore a girdle or a cincher or body slimmer pants and I'm pretty thorn right now... I'm all for having a nicer figure but how restrictive are they?
And I'm not sure how much good they'd do for my figure given the fact that I'm almost jiggle free.

Oh I have to say that I am pretty jiggle free as well but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my corsets ! I think it is a fantastic look and I absolutely LOVE the feeling of wearing it ! Nothing better ! Wish there were more opportunities to wear the corset actually !

The only way to get that classic 1950s look is to wear 1950s style undergarments. Even if you are not a bigger girl, it smooths everything out and makes your clothes lie flat.

I think we need a "how to find your size" guide. Ladies who own them, can you help out the ones who don't?

I ordered this one a while ago in black.

I ordered it to my bra size, but when I got it it was super tight (although I know it should be to really suck everything in), but the main problem was that it was too short. I couldn't barely get the straps up over my shoulders. Any advice from the ladies that own them on how to order so it fits better?

I love my corsets, made them myself, and when it is not too cold garterbelts, I really need new stockings and would love a vintage style girdle In general I like anything that makes my waist smaller.

Thank you I got the look of the picture of the garment and now one name I will go searching again thanks girls. I have to get some also for my skirts:)...as soon as I get one I'll let you all know where and how it fits:)

I have no waist at all. My ribs and hips pretty much sit right on top of each other. I wear an OBG with all my dresses and a cincher or corset with jeans or skirts. Without them on my torso just looks like a box with boobs.

 

I love spanx and anything by Rago. I'd love to have some vintage undergarments one day. I just add that to my ever growing wish list.

I have to wear a corset too or I end up with little to no waist definition in my pencil dresses.  Because I can't find a girdle that will fit me properly I've just taken to wearing my corset and a slip to hide panty lines and cinch my waist in when wearing a one piece garment.  Vintage is even harder for me to find in my size as my waist is large for the size hips I have when considering garments back then.  My waist is more for a vintage size medium with my hips being a vintage small or xs.  Talk about a conundrum.
