Hey guys and dolls, my friend has been looking for pomade but we aren't sure which ones to use or even where to find them frankly since we did go to the hair and beauty stores. We're looking or something pliable for doing hair and shaping it. We are also on a budget so if any of you all know of some good pomade at a decent price, we'd love your recommendation.

Run by a really great guy I encountered on Coolsville.

I use American Crew.  I usually find it where I get my hair cut.  It consider it an ok price, every time I buy it I wince but I still buy it.  I don't need to buy it that often.  I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for.  It doesn't hold long and hard.  After about 10 hours my hair is pretty loose which is ok with me but might not be ok with you.

Good luck.

I've heard nothing but amazing things about Murray's!

I had to try a fair share of different pomades before I found one that really worked with my hair.

The first one I tried was the American Crew. It was good, and smelled really nice but wasn't stiff enough to accomplish the pompadour I wanted and it was a little pricey.

Murrays is like the polar opposite. Stiff as candle wax but the smell took some getting used to. A little went a long way and there was a thin line between not-enough and WAAAAY too much. It's dirt cheap though, and a decent starter pomade as you can experiment with different looks at is washes out in like 3-4 days after you put it in. Like the way you hair works on day 2 or 3? It's probably time to get something a little less stiff.

Right now I use Layrite, holds like pomade but is water soluble so it washes out like gel. I have both the original and the superhold for every day and event use respectively. It's easily my favorite and the one I'll be using for the next few years at least. It's a little expensive, but I think the results are more than worth it. http://www.hawleywoods.com/cat1.cfm

I agree mostly with That Cat in the Hat. My hubby uses American Crew because he slicks his to the side and back, and I can use it too, so we get good use out of it. For a girl's hair I would recommend American Crew personally. It's not too thick, but gives you that de-frizzing and control we usually strive for. But if it's a guy's hair who wants a great pomp, Murrays is great, but it's a bit hard to get out of the hair, so your friend will want to be okay with it being rough on his/her hair. Though I've heard that they've come out with a Murrays Lite.
I use Layrite cause Murrays was just too stiff!  Layrite is a bit pricey however it holds very well, doesn't flake, and washes out easily.

Don't forget about Cock Grease!

Thanks everyone for the advice and different pomade brands. It was all very helpful and i'll tell my friend about it and slet her decide which ones sounds good to her, I'm not really sure about her preferences for her hair and what kinda she'll like or want in her hair. Thanks for giving me so many options. :)
