"We Are The New Vintage"
So, I thought I would update about my High Tease performance...
I was originally asked by the organiser to take part a previous month, but wasn't available, so I have had several weeks of building up to this point!
About a week before the show, I found out who the other acts would be. And woah, was that intimidating! I performed on the same stage as the amazingly wonderful Missy Malone (who is totally one of my heroes!). I also discovered a couple of days before the show that two people who run the two biggest local shows would be there. SO If I ever want to perform locally, I knew I couldn't mess up. This is all freaked me out. But once the info soaked in, I was fine - and much happier for knowing rather than turning up on the day and running into Missy and freaking out.
I had so much fun the whole time, really got into the spirit of it. I was the first act on after the intermission, so I did get a tiny bit nervous during the intermission, but once I got down there, it was awesome.
However, I did manage to mess up, lol. Others also commented on this later for their own acts, that basically the music wasn't very loud on the stage, so it was hard to hear it when the audience were cheering. So I got introduced and went on to cheers (woot!) but couldn't hear my music for the first few second (boo) which totally threw me off. I thought it was further along than it was, and so missed out a move, which meant I then had time on my hands to try and fill. In fact my friend actually recorded part of the performance and I think it looks ok, and I can totally see where it went wrong - I do the first 3 moves at high speed, thinking I am playing catch up. Never mind.
The audience loved it!!! And I had an amazing time. I managed to go and sit out with mum and my friends for most of the second half, and had people saying how much they liked it.
Overall, considering I have only performed this before once, in private, to an audience of 20 - a 200 strong audience in a theatre? I don't think I did too shabby.
So now I am very keen to keep up with all this fun stuff! I talked to Missy and I will be (hopefully) auditioning for a slot in her Halloween show, with a routine I am currently working on (which verges on the gorelesque). No guarantee I'll get it, but to get to audition, is... well... mind blowing!
I have also been booked for a show in August in the Welsh seaside resort of Tenby - where I will once again do my Too Hot To Hula routine and another nautical routine that I am currently working on....
So yes, all in all - an amazing night! Hopefully pics will be up soon on my facebook - which you are all welcome to check out! http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/Tiger-Tiger/389081813766?...
