I was wondering if any of the ladies here had any experience with the SG franchise? I really dug them when they first started out, and a few years ago I was even offered a place in the group. A photographer friend of mine informed me that their contracts are outrageous and they are pretty much unfair to models. Does anyone here know anything about them? I really thought that they were awesome until I heard all the negative rumors about their policies.

I've definitely heard some pretty scary horror stories about them too. But, I also know a girl who is an SG and hasn't complained although she isn't really pursuing modeling outside of what she does for them. I guess my thing is that I heard they are very hard to deal with when you want to network yourself as a model outside of their network. You will be deemed a SG from then on. It depends on what your intentions as a model are. Do you want to freely pursue your own thing or do you want to be an SG and get more promotion? I read a long time ago about a girl who wanted to do Gods Girls too and SG threatened to sue since she was going to represent their major competitor. I've also heard that once you quit and want to be expunged from SG all together they don't remove your profile so they can continuously make money off of you. Which means if you change your mind down the road you STILL are going to be considered an SG. I don't know how much of that is true but, I would do some MAJOR research before making any other decisions.
I've heard the exact same, and the girl is out, and her profile remains even after her requests and begging to remove it. She went into Govt. contractor work. Really sucks, I do enjoy looking at them tho!
I have no interest in being a part of it. I was just curious. :)

I was going to post a similar topic, you beat me to the punch.

I heard about SG when I was 16 and I checked it out and had decided that when I was 18 I would apply. I heard both good and bad things about the site, from formal SG's and current SG's, so I was iffy about it. I talked to a photographer friend of mine who used to shoot for them and he told me the contract were basically a load of bs. I took the time to really consider it and decided not to go through with it.
Yeah, the photog I talked to shot for them a few years back and he said that they had odd requests in the contract like "every 5th picture must contain nipple or crack."

I'll pass on the exclusive contract.. I was accepted as a model in 2004 I submitted my set.. they lost it shot it again with lithium picnic in 2005 thanks to his computer crashing we lost the images.. I never shot again for them nor do I ever plan on it. I'd suggest going w/a different alt site, however no other site is as busy as SG when it comes to alt porn. I'm currently a model for Gods Girls, Hipsters & Hoes, Deviant Nation.. I have no complaints thus far with any of those websites =)
All I know about them is that they turned down my totaly awesome friend roxi because she was too heavy! Roxi had a bone structure to die for, her lips were perfect and she had loads of cool tatts and pierings to boot. so I dont know , i like what I see when i see them but im not sure about their ethics/politics
ew. thats not cool.

yes, i got accepted as a SG back about 2 or 3 years ago (just before the lithium picnic / apnea saga)...

having a legal background, i read the contract thoroughly... and it is really really really constrictive. great for the model who ONLY wants to identify herself as an SG, but put simply, the contract states that you, your look and all your images belong to SG... you cannot post images of yourself on any other websites or even your own personal blog. you cannot change your appearance without them agreeing to it... and a whole heap of other dodgy things.

i since got accepted to another site, Rebel Belles, and their contract was pretty much the same.

my advice... RUN AWAAAAAY!

ALWAYS remain in control of your own image ladies!
SG = evil!
Be aware.

Read about 'Lithium Picnic' for what they used to do to photogs, and some of the original girls didn't get paid crap.

I'm told they 'recently' cleaned up their act... but how much?
I've heard nothing but horror stories about SG as well. It's very safe to say I'm not a fan :) If you wanna take your clothes off for a living, I'm sure there are lots of bigger companies that are a little kinder. It's a multi-billion dollar business. There's practically a billion adult magazine out there...hahaha. Although, I'm not sure why anyone on this particular site(PL) would even be considering that. Pinup and porn are two VERY different things. One has respect, gives respect and you walk away from the job with respect. And one is the opposite of what I just said, in MY opinion. Take a guess which one blows. However, I'm not here to judge, nor would I ever. I'm not that kinda person. I suppose my idea of "pinup" may be different from someone else's that may, in fact, be considering SG or Gods Girls. I'm a classic kinda guy I suppose. The golden age was the gorgeous age and the fab fifties was the maturing of a society I think. I understand some girls do what they feel they gotta do in order to atleast succeed in some way in this business, and a place such as SG where you merely sign all your rights away and they take care of the rest may seem sorta appealing at times when you're struggling etc. And um....yeah, that's why they make it so easy :) I'm a cameraman/graphics guy myself. Even I have been approached about shooting adult things. Video in my case but it's the same market. I turn every offer down and they think I am crazy because of the money involved. They think they can buy you :) But that kind of work would be something I would have attached to my name forever...they couldn't pay me enough to do that. In many cases, your name and word are all you have. Just use your heads and think in long term about your career ladies...you could end up saving your career. Anyways...I'm off my stump...hahaha. So in a nutshell, yeah SG f*ckin sucks.
