Ladies Have any of you had any experience with cosmetic tattoos? especially for lips.

I have always been interested in it but never met anyone who had had it done. Any opinions?

Not sure if this should be in makeup or body art.

I have an appt to get my eyebrows done Monday morning, I'll try to get pix and video, and I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Oh please do! Good luck.

Hey Lily,

I'm a tattoo artist and a permanent makeup technician. I have done many lip procedures but it really comes down to how you'll feel in the future. As it's semi-permanent it doesn't last forever, so getting it done now doesn't mean you'll have it when you're 80.

Lip liner and lip fill are both extremely painful procedures. If you have any questions feel free to message me. :)

I don't have my lips done but I understand you can get a dental block prior to the procedure from my technician so that should take the edge off!

Thanks. My husband's hairdresser is getting hers done soon so I am waiting to see how she gets on.

So I got my eyebrows done on Tuesday, and I wish someone had warned me about the shock. It hurt a bit, the lady numbed it but it didn't work, but it didn't hurt any more then a normal tattoo, although it was weird having it done on my face. Now, on to the shocking part. When it was done my eyebrows were super dark, thick and angry looking. I almost had a heart attack when I looked in the mirror. The lady that did them (she has been doing my waxing and nails for over a decade, and I trust her) told me that they would lighten up. On the second day (Wednesday) they did not look any better, so I took to the internet and did some research on the healing process. Turns out, this is totally normal and it should lighten up and look more natural within the week. So here I am, day 4 (Friday), and so far the outside lines are still thick and harsh (I look like the evil queen from snow white), but the inside has started to look patchy. Nice huh.

So here I am, doing my best not to freak out, because as much as I love the Evil Queen, I don't want to spend everyday looking like her. I'll keep y'all updated on how the healing goes.

Wow Roxy I hope it does work out. I did read that somewhere about the colour being intense at first, but it didn't say HOW intense. This might explain why some of the before and after pictures of lips I found looked really dark and bright.

I have a beauty mark I got tattooed on my right cheek in '99. It is barely visible now. I feel over time, and using products like exfoliants and glycolic acid, I've faded it into oblivion. I think the state of tattooing has to be better than it was then, but overall, I would discuss which skincare products to use, or not use.

Update: It's been a little bit and my brows are looking much more normal. They are still a little harsher then I would like them to be, but people keep telling me they will continue to fade. The only real problem I have is the bottom line on the inside, it's a bit low and I still feel like I look angry. I'm thinking about getting a good glycolic product and using it on a q-tip just in the small spot I don't like. Over all though, I'm glad I got it done. My arch is perfect now!

I believe the pigments they use for cosmetic tattoos are more mineral based and much more prone to fading that mainstream tattoo inks. Some technicians recommend 6 months top ups to keep the make up looking tip top which I think is a little excessive and more so a case of $$$ for them but, without a doubt, its fades! :)

I live in CT as well and know someone who has her brows, upper and lower liner and lips done. I had NO idea it was tattoos, it looked SO natural! I'm thinking about saving up to get my brows done. Heres where she goes....
