Anyone else gotten the boot from Facebook due to a photo???

I did and boy did I see red! First off, someone on my friends list did it because this was my personal site and it's limited to friends. I wrote a fast and furious letter to FB. They then reopened my account and showed me the "offensive" material that was removed. It was a pose I did with another woman and while it's sexy, it's also tastefully playful. I have similar poses with a man and no reports have been made on those. Ok, fine. Some jerk got off by ticking me off. The NEXT day I got a 2nd warning for apparently posting something offensive. I guess telling someone that if they don't want to see it, they should delete themselves instead of being a homophobic ass! I have my other site set to 18+ so if your kid is looking at that site, that's not MY problem! ARGH!!! I hate having to sensor myself.

And people wonder "WHY" I cant stand facebook which by the way I have no idea why its so popular like Myspace was.  To me they are the worst social network type of site when there are so many clearly better designed sites out there.  The reason you got deleted is most likely it was some "Friend" that you do not even know that was on your friendslist. One of the main reasons I can not stand facebook because FB constinently is trying to shove friends of friends down your throat and even when you set the parameters of who can see what the facebook website changes things and you have to "Reset" your controls all over again. Friends of friends even though your not their friend get to see your stuff through one of your remote friends.. Uhhh....  Mind boggling I know. But this is why I can not stand facebook. I dont want my friends family or my family priest who emails my family friend to see my "Pinup stuff" right? But its almost like there is always slip ups on the controls on facebook.   Its such a poorly design and interface nothing is consistant on their site at all.

I will say this though they do have "Guidelines" and man or woman or woman or woman have to be met regardless  because they set up the ground rules of what they will except and what they wont. Also its completely up to them to decide what "IS" tasteful and what is not as it is "Their" website and its free its not your own website to decide what is or is not tasteful.  To quote a golden rule "Their House Their Rules" you may not like it "Neither do I per-say" but it is their house.  If you are unhappy about how they do things I would not use their site or promote their site much like I preach. As you are only promoting their site by posting images on their site. In a couple of years Facebook will sink just like Myspace craze did already.  I am almost sure your photo was flagged by some jealous woman or even a jealous model or photog you most likely barely even know or perhaps a angry wife of some guy ugling your pics at home late one night.. I seen many of friendships and even marriages end over the most stupid things on facebook.

My final opinion of facebook "A black sharpie pen dangling on a string in a local High School bathroom stall"

I've had several photos removed due to violating their terms of service. 2 of them were reported and the only things 'naked' in the photos were my legs and arms. I've also had my account suspended, however I was provided an email to write to if I thought this unfair and I emailed them NON-STOP for 2 days, and they re-activated my account.

Yes, I had some ass hat who was trying to score with a model. He decided to do the protective guy "friend" and report the models pics. 32 photos in all were taken down. Still I've had stuff rejected from here as well.

OMG! You are actually serious? you are upset because you lost 6 shoots because you booked them thru facebook?  Thats like saying I am angry because I had a dentist that was aweful he pulled the wrong tooth and I found him thru a Tijuana Jail ad. What do you expect when you are booking people "Solely" thru facebook?  All of this is downright stupid. This is "WHY" you speak to people on the phone so you "Know" who you are dealing with and have a way to contact them. From a facebook only means of contact you have no clue who you are dealing with "Man impersonating a woman" "Weirdos" "Flakes" "Uncommitted" etc.. Had all those things happen throughout my 17years of shooting.   A facebook id could be anyone pretending to be anything or anyone. Hence why you do not book things just thru facebook only. I constantly hear people complain about Facebook "me included" But yet people keep fueling the fire and patronize the website thus keeping their site going. Also giving Facebook more power to play like "We facebook owners can make our site as crappy as we like or Do what we like" why because most facebookers are willing to come back for more abuse by facebook just like blind dumb sheep..   Sitting and complaining about facebook but still using their site is like complaining that it hurts when you bang your head on the wall and it hurts.

"Well dummy dont bang you head on the wall" Duh..

"Dont like facebook dont use them" or better yet "Dont promote their website more by using them"

Yeppa, and it happens all the time. I'm surprised you got ANY response from Facebook. It's usually completely automated and they refuse to even tell you why.

I got this from Facebook recently, when I posted it on my page, they added in non-printing characters into the link address so people couldn't see the image.

Anyone can report anything they want anonymously, there is not check and balance system. If you don;t like someone you can get them kicked off Facebook period.

Sandy Puc, a Family & Baby Photographer, Canon Explorer of Light, and PPA Trainer got her Facebook site removed. She set 3 of her staff on the problem and almost a week later gave up because there was NOBODY to talk to about it.

When my page was taken down it was just marked "suspended", I would ask why, and hear back a WEEK later that it was because of a rules violation. What rule? They wouldn't tell me. after 3 weeks, they finally said it was gone and I can't have it back. NEVER an explanation of why, Just a "Rule Violation" and I should read them to find out which one.
Because I also lost all me messages, I lost contact with 6 people I had setup shoots with.

I have always thought the best defense is a good offence, I have been telling everyone we need to find the Facebook pages of the developers and get everyone to report them and let their automated system kick them off their site.  :)

P.S. before some blind sheep that can not think for himself mentions "Well everyone uses facebook" I say this "Many invested  money in Madoff's ponzi scheme even the wealthy"  Just because everyone is doing it does not mean its a good thing"

Just the nude stuff OR too many photos from the same set!

Jerry's example below is exactly why photogs especially Pinup types like myself and others should not be trying to use Facebook. I have been doing this for 17 years for a living and when it comes to these types of photos you get all types "Jealous husbands and Jealous wives" "Guys jealous because some girl is bragging about her photos she took for her husband and he likes her etc" On and on...  Facebook has loose rules and apparently is very open to interpitation on what they will except or not as well as what their rules are or were the lines in the sand are on those rules and they like it that way.. Once again "Their house their rules" Complaining about it is a total waste of time "Why" Because the very same people that are complaining about facebook are giving facebook the power! Duh...   Dont use their site and soon they will fade away like Myspace and "Will" care what their users need and want. Right now they are to popular to have to "Be fair or Do things right" so they do not have too. They can say "Piss off we can do what we want when we want and make the rules along the way" and you facebook users say this "Yes sir may I have another helping of your bad abuse" from facebook.

No Women...eh...No Facebook no cry...etc.

Yap, facebook is for sissys. I had an account deleted and many photos removed from my current account. I keep using it but I am hopeful that google+ will take over.

I didn't have that experience with pics, but I lost my first account on facebook because some people agreed to denouncing it as false profile (my nickname instead of my real name). A year later got an answer from facebook to recover my account (obviously it was too late).

I have seen many pics of explicit sex in public pages of facebook (where you access by clicking on "like"), but no one block or delete this things.

I did - not a full boot or ban but disallowed a month uploading any image to facebook - for a photorealist rendering of an actual photo of Barbara Eden pre-Jeannie, where she'd inadvertently exposed a nipple while adjusting her top, photog's mistake & was never released but sold at his estate sale on passing - no copyright claimed & usage protected by Commons Law having acquired online - but still earned me a visual-upload ban [shown here: http://stormstudiousa.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3o6dbl ]
You were banned? Someone finked, likely. Best, Mike

I haven't been banned, but I have had photos removed in the past. FB provided no way of seeing what was removed and I have a lot of material so I couldn't narrow it down to any one photo. I've never broken their (admittedly not entirely clear) rules as far as I'm concerned. I agree it's really disappointing when you get so called friends who report your work. Hope you don't feel the need to censor yourself more than necessary, it's a pity when people have their creativity (or ability to share it) curbed.

First of all, I need to proof my posts! OY! I know a friend ratted me out. I shut the site down. It's ridiculous because I'm very open about how VERY open I am! FB can shove their so-called policies where the sun don't shine. They let my stalker roam like a gd free range chicken. I blocked him and he popped back up with another site. This was someone who had stalked me 5yrs before and he found me on FB and started up again. Trust me, this was way before any "sexy" pics of me were on my site. So, in the end, the local PD CSI(no joke)had to come and photograph the emails, tap into my voice mail, and collect his creepy "love" letters. To this day, that creep still has a site and I'm the bad one??? I'm now happily back to my old page. I will probably push the envelope on that page. It's in my nature. It's been a good way for me to keep in touch with photogs and other models. I about wanted to explode when I posted this discussion. Art has no hard and fast rules. Let me pose this question. What type of picture would offend you to the point of reporting it?
