Sacramento, CA...is there a scene?

Hello all,

 

     I just moved to Sacramento and I am looking for (and totally bad at finding) a good music scene here.  I grew up in CA (central valley), but I am not totally familiar with Sac.  Anyone know of anything here, such as bars and....bars?  Heh heh.

The Hideaway and Town House are ok if your in the downtown area. I'm still looking myself. I've only been out here a year.

     Thanks for the info.  I'll try those spots maybe this weekend.  I'm off Mack Rd, so I figure no matter where a cool joint is, I'll either be driving far or paying a shitton in cab fare.

I lived there for 9 years and had the same problem.  One of my favorites downtown is a bar called Inked.  As far as a music scene...not really.  Most of the really good shows don't come through Sacramento, kinda few and far between.  We have a friend who owns a barber shop downtown called Anthony's Barber Shop (not sure if you'd be in need of men's barbering needs), he would be a good source of events going on.  There used to be a bigger scene back in the late 90's early 00's but it's kinda faded.  If you're into the trendy club scene there's a lot downtown.

Do keep an eye on The Boardwalk in Orangevale. A lot of good shows pass through there and tix are really reasonable.
