Black And/Or Dark Brown Hair (How To Keep It Dark During The Summer)....

I have black-brown haircolor and I just love it.

But how do I keep it from getting lighter when I'm out in the sun? I do wear hats and wrap bandanas on my head in order to keep my hair dark. But are there other ways too? Thanks.

I know there are certain hair care products with SPF built in. I am not sure which ones but you can google them.
You can make a cheap UV protectant for your hair by mixing 2 tsp. of SPF 25 or higher sunscreen with a cup of water. I put this in a spray bottle and use it at the beach and it works fairly well. I have dyed black hair, so it doesn't take much for it to lighten up around the roots and ends.

I use a semi-permanent black dye (I'm allergic to permanent black, sadly) and so I just redye it when it fades.

I know they make products that protect your hair from the sun. My sister has one by Garnier.

You could also avoid the sun and stay in the shade instead, especially from around 10AM to 4PM.

There are many products out there with UVA/UVB protection for your hair in them. It's important to know your hair type. I have very thick, wavy hair and I have to use shampoo and condition made for hard water. I use heat and sun protection products from Sally Beauty Supply. Redken also makes good UVA/UVB hair products. I also slather on the highest SPF I can find because I don't like to tan and I've had skin cancer. I love the contrast of dark hair and pale skin!
I have the same problem with the black fading, AND my red streak. I'm rarely in the sun though because I work overnight and sleep during the day the red streak I'm re-doing about every 10 days and my black about every 4 weeks. I love my hair this way but the upkeep is sort of a pain.
