Hello Dolls! Just wanted to share this - and perhaps I'm behind the beauty times as I often seem to be.

I just recently was introduced to a new nail polish product that I can't screw up and it lasts for 2 weeks - AND they have a couple of really incredible REDS.

Usually before a burlesque show ...even a photo shoot, I just couldn't be bothered to do my nails and I was way out of the habit of having manicures because it seemed like a waste of money. I'd eff it up before I was even home.

I was just introduced to Shellac. And HOLY MOLEY. SOLD.  I did a quick check and there are a ton of salon listings in the all over the place so you should be able to find someone near you.

So impressed was I that I wrote a big gushy review on my blog which you can read here if you like!

I'm curious who else has tried this - was it as resilient for you?

Mwah,
Sweet Louise

Shellac came out about a year ago, and has gotten great reviews. I've used it numerous times, even though I don't really need it. I have acrylics and they hold polish really well, but my nail girl wanted to try the Shellac out on me. I didn't see a real difference, but my mom, who only gets manicures loves the stuff. It really does last for two weeks, and well worth the extra cost.
I had it done several months ago and it didn't chip for about 2 1/2 weeks...and I do a LOT of typing!  The only bad thing is that it's really difficult to take off!  And I usually want a new color after about a week anyway.  :)
I heard lots of great things as well. Found a local salon that does it here in KY and really want to try!
One of my employees told me about it too! I have yet to try it because I usually just wear my nails natural but this seems like a good option too, I know you can get it in french manicures as well.
It is wonderful to use, especially if you go on holiday and spend time in the water. You can do practically anything and it lasts for at least 2 weeks. You can get special pads to remove it, which is recommendable since it sticks like superglue and can ruin your nails if you try to remove it on your own.

I'm about to take the class on shellac and axxium for work;  Those are the two major brands of the 'gel uv-cured polish'  though there is a ton of other brands as well;

Shellac is by CND and literally a POLISH...requires no buffing to your natural nail and have a fairly wide variety of colors, its applied using a special base coat, which is cured using a uv light and then two coats of polish, both cured and then a top coat... the entire process takes around 30-45 minutes.  Things like French manicures can be done using it, as well as our lovely halfmoon manicure.

Now Axxium is owned by OPI and is actually more of an acrylic;  it does require some buffing of the natural to stay put,  however alot of people are fine with it and claim it lasts longer then the shellac.  Axxium has  a MASSIVE variety of colors...

Both almost act as a acrylic overlay as well. kinda reinforcing the nail :>

I just got my second Shellac polish and I'm so sold on this. Thank you for the extra information! I haven't tried Axxium. I love that Shellac cures and dries so fast. Virtually no time for me to jack it up. :)

I

love Shellac and have been having it done for several months. I have them do mine in Vintage half moons so you can't see the growth either and it is utterly fantastic! Keep in mind I have 20 horses to care for, kids do crafts and I work a stocking job and rip open boxes 8 hours a night 4 nights a week and they still hold up great. The salon I use likes the Gellish brand although the red they got in just for me is a CND color. I hate acrylic nails, they are hard to craft with and I usually break 2-3 of them in two weeks. My natural nails were shredding at work and I really didn't think just the thin coat of shellac would keep me from breaking them but really it has for the most :)
