Spray tan before photoshoot tomorrow?

So, I have my first photo shoot tomorrow. I have very light skin and notice that I look better in photos after a spray tan, but I've never done in-studio pinup shots before. To spray tan or not to spray tan? Please help me out, ladies!

I always advise ladies NOT to spray tan before a shoot. The orange in the tan gets picked up very easily by digital cameras and can be a problem to correct.

If you have avoided alcohol and taken plenty of water then your skin will be properly hydrated and will photograph perfectly.

I have to agree with the spray tan coming out orange on camera. Besides, I'm sure you will look fabulous with your own natural skin tone!

noooooooo don't do it!! Vintage = pale :) as a photographer when someone has a spray tan from the day before I feel like it ruins the shots.

I think it went well, thanks, except I was very nervous. Haven't been in front of the camera in awhile. Hope it didn't translate to the pics. And no tan. :-)

I've encountered quite a few fashion models who have spray tans.  When used very lightly it gives a very nice glow to skin tone.

 

They all use air brush tanning.  Not the machines and not the self-tanning solutions.  You get what you pay for. 

 

I'm curious that some here has said spray tans look orange.  Perhaps the models they used didn't know how to apply it correctly.

 

Never ever spray than within 2 days of a shoot.  Let is settle on the skin.

Late to the party, I know, but here's the answer:

It's not that spray tan is ugly - thought it usually is. It's that you should NOT dramatically alter your appearance right before a shoot. If the photographer booked you based on your latest book shots, and you show up difference, that's a non-starter. I've had models show up with fresh new tattoos, radical hair cut/color, etc, etc. It ticks me off. It's rude. You could have at least told me, "Oh, my hair's shoulder-length and purple now." I have my shots set up in my head and if you change my subject, you've changed my shots. Please don't do that.

 

I was originally going to put, "No, no, no, no, NO," but then it occurred to me that you might have had spray tan in your latest portfolio images or shots you sent the photographer or something: if you did, it would be appropriate to try to match it.

As a photographer, I always recommend natural skin before a shoot.  I looks so much more authentic on camera.

not for a photo shoot but for going out I love sally hansen airbrushed legs. But I do it in a color to match my skin tone (I had it on in my old profile pic) it helps cover all the bruises from pole dancing.
