Cheap corsets & plastic boning- Any fix for plastic boning?

Anybody who's ever bought or worn a cheap plastic corset knows that when the plastic heats up, it's starts to mold to your body. I have a number of corsets that I love and would like to continue use/save for my clients but they are almost misshapen b.c. of the plastic boning. Short of removing the plastic boning and replacing it with steel, would it be possible to throw the corsets in the dryer on low heat and straighten the boning out?

Hi, I had the same problem... This is not the solution, but it helps a little. Try to iron it, placing a piece of fabric over the corset first. It won't have the same shape, but, again, it helps.
I think it better worth to buy the ones with steel boning, although there are many beautiful corsets with plastic boning!

Yes, I'm definitely going to have to get into waist training and invest in the steel corsets, but thank your for the idea. I will try it. What setting do you normally put your iron on?

nothing can fix a cheep boning if you have already experienced it, lol. ironing seems to be the only thing ive had experience with before, and it dosnt work any magic.

I have gone thru this too. I make sure to reshape the top into place before putting it away, and yes ironing does help, but its not like new. It seems that the boning weakens in the same place... how about replacing it with new plastic boning?

There doesn't seem to be any way to straighten it before putting it away and if I'm going to the trouble of replacing boning, I'm not going to put plastic back in. Seems I get about one wear out of it brand new, and then it looks like crap after that b.c. of the bent boning.
