please! you need to stop using Boxed Hair Color from the grocery store!!!!! it is not good for your hair. "metallic dyes" can be unpredictable, they dry your hair out and cause it to be brittle and it effects the Porosity (which deals with the way your hair holds color).
ok. now that I've gotten that out.. lol
I agree with Sandra M, Redken products are awesome, and do help extend the life of your color significantly. also using a UV protectant will help protect your hair from the rays of the Sun which can fade and damage it...
stay away from getting your hair wet in Swimming pools chlorine can fade hair color, and don't shampoo your hair everyday!
also, Tessa is totally on spot! try using a color Sealer after coloring your hair. what that does is closes down the cuticle of your hair which helps prevent color from seeping out.
hope I helped..
I have red hair I use Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner, Redken Rich Recovery (every 4 shampoos) and Occasionally brighten up with CHI Organics Tone and Shine Conditioner. I also use Redken's Color Extend Shine Enrich which contains UV protection to help shield from those fading Sun rays
Ive had red hair for a while now with no fading
BTW- do you know what brand of color your Stylist uses on you?

I actually have gotten really bad (and a little lazy). I just get a box color and do it myself. I have a hair person here but I'm moving in a few weeks, so I hated to get started with something and then not be able to find someone once I move (and not have to pay a fortune).
I know the box colors are not the best but they fit my budget lol and they get job done!
Once I get settled I will have to find someone - do you have any suggestions on the brand I should have a stylist use??

if there is a Sally Beauty Supply in your area they offer a lovely selection on color that is much less damaging than box color. and it's affordable

Oh perfect! I'll have to go that route when I touch up in the next couple of weeks.
Do you have any suggestions of a specific brand Miss Nikki Sin? I am not so good at this - I just get bored and go with how I feel... The last color I used was Light Intense Auburn by Garnier (not too red, but it looks great).
