So Hollywood has been dabbling in pinup lately. Beyonce and Kellie Pickler both have videos in full on pinup. Stores are coming out with pinup style lines. How does everyone feel about this?

I think the more the merrier! It's nice to see celebrities enjoying the style, The only unfortunate is with them being abled to reach mass amounts of people, Fans may copy with little idea what they are representing, I think general knowledge of pinup, ect is recommended, Because when it's done well, it's excellent, when done wrong....sheesh!
I think it's great! I particularly adore VV Brown, right now. "Shark in the Water" is so catchy, too. Pin Up doesn't HAVE to be a lifestlye. It's fun and cute, so why not? There's plenty of celebs out there that doll up Pin Up style full-time, but don't really seem to live a particular lifestyle by it. Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera, for example, although I'm not sure if they continue to carry out the trend or not... they're both always changing their style. I don't see a problem with Pin Up being mainstream. It's not like there's a book meant to live by when it comes down to it.
the more widely avaliable the clothing, the cheaper it usually is, which is always good news to me!
Definitely seconded, but then we won't look so unique :(

not really sure how i feel about it, call me a party pooper i guess, LOL. i mean, it does have it's perks i guess, you can now go into many a store and pick up some pretty cute vintage-esque things, which makes it way easier, especially in these parts, seeing as how things/items for this sort of style/lifestyle are very limited and i always have to resort to buying online, which isn't so great for me because i am the type of person who HAS to try it on and actually look at it in real life before i throw down some greenbacks on it. especially now of all times, i'm a first time mom and things add up, not to mention the price of good quality vintage-esque things can be a bit steep too, i can't just go off and buy something and only wear it maybe once or twice, if i buy something i have to make sure i absolutely will wear it and get alot of use out of it.
not really keen in it being seen as fadish when people often developed and grown into the style over their lives. couldn't imagine much worse than nailing your personal style to then be looked down on because some flavour-of-the-month type was wearing something similar for a whole six months, a whole two years ago. I know it shouldn't matter, but hey.
on the plus side, it does look gorgeous, so the glass is more than half-full.
It's a double-edged sword. The exposure is nice. It might be easier for us to find affordable garments. But then you get every wannabe trying to emulate the style. Which is worse that the whole emo thing. But it's probably only the flavour of the week... it will pass.
My thoughts exactly!

I feel the same way, i guess I'm just a party pooper too. I just kind of feel it would be nice if people got to see some of the past/history about it.

I was talking to my friend about this (after she watched the show 'Time Warp Wives') and she just can't understand why people would chose to live and dress like this. She said why don't we just dress 'normal' and in the 21st century?

I'm counting the days until she buys a pin-up/vintage-y piece once it hits the stores :)
I kind of agree with the double ended sword idea.
I mean, I personally love the pinup look. I think its adorable, and better yet, it works for women of all shapes and sizes. It's flattering for all. And it's increasing popularity makes it accessible much more easily, and for cheaper too.
However, it does kind of suck that now that it IS so popular, sometimes people will begin dressing this way without having any real knowledge of what it is all about in the first place. I mean, it's kind of the same concept of having dreadlocks, which for example, Rastafarians take very seriously. Something so strongly cultural is not something to take lightly without at least doing your research. There are a lot of connotations that come with looking a certain, so it's important to at least know what you are representing. And even if you have a different take on it, you will at least be prepared if someone questions you, so you don't appear as just an ignorant trend follower.
However, its not surprising that its popularity is increasing. I mean, history repeats itself. Certain styles are always resurfacing in the mainstream, and in another 20 or 30 years after it has disappeared, it will make its way back again I'm sure. It's kind of a natural cycle.
