I've been interested in doing it for quite a while now, and I haven't really met anyone that I know could help me out. I'm not a very good dancer, should I need to be?
I live near Atlanta, help me out!

I replied to a similar question in the forum - http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/forum/topics/starting-burlesque
which gives some general ideas and advice, but it might help you in looking for things in your area.

Good luck :D
xx
thanks!
Hi! Head to www.ministryofburlesque.com
Its a fantastic site and everyone in the forums is very friendly.
Someone should be able to help you there to find some classes in your area.
xx
Find people that put on shows, but adding everything Burlesque on sites like this and facebook, and start asking if you can do your first performance with them (after making up a couple of dances obviously) if you need any Burlesque costumes come see me! www.talulahblue.com
thank you!

It was said in the other thread, but classes aren't a half bad idea. There are a million things you might never think of doing (or avoiding), you'll get a trained eye to help you with your first performance, and you'll start building a network of girls that can help you get gigs in the future.

You build confidence, learn movements, and really learn to create an interesting act - anyone can get their kit off, but you have to make it your own.

Best of luck - you're stunning and I hope to catch you on the stage someday!
hi Ashley!
i just joined a burlesque workshop- yesterday was the first out of 3 days and it was so much fun!
one of the things we discussed was betty page's dancing skills or lack of them actually and yet she looks so adorable and sexy on stage.

just have fun and do your thing =)
good luck!
I worked for a troupe for a year. It wasn't a requirement, I love stage managing and helped out as a stage technician because I loved the venue and the ladies in the troupe. I ended up being so inspired I started performing.

I never took a class or anything. Maybe you could volunteer with a local troupe and get in the door that way.

I bet Atlanta has a lot of opportunities! I'm stuck in a town of less than 400 people and I have to drive 4.5 hours to get back to my old troupe. Sigh.
