YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Feature some clothing companies/lingerie designers/accessory makers too, maybe have your focus model wear the clothes for a multi-page spread.

Yes and No. I see the same in both Rods. Fun. I do understand but it is up to the person looking at the Rods. Some of the things you say is bad is kind of what makes me like them more. See life is just to clean sometimes. My best friend works at the ford plant and he likes to let lose when he builds on his Rat Rod. But I do like both of the Rods but I will never have the money or time to own a Hot Rod. I would like one but I have come to a point in my life when fun has a big price tag and I have to choose which one I can buy.

If you notice, the rat rods are visually assaulting and insulting. Ugly is a too kind a word to describe them. There is no thought given to the aesthetic flow of the vehicle or even safety for that matter. When i see a rat rod I expect to see a bunch of clowns come piling out from the circus. And they may need tetanus shots. rust is not a color.

On the other hand, a Hot Rod is built with some sort of vision and design and of course is built to drive fast and have a hell of a fun time and they can even safely stop and turn.
The one other little thing about Hot Rods. When we had tried do photo shoot or stroies about Hot Rods. First Hot Rod Owners don't want us to have models with their Rods or they just don't write that much about their Rods. I mean yes they tell us the spec's but just short on the story part.

We ask about three different companies and they asked us what is in it for them. I not joking really that is what they said. Also one said we would have to pay them to do a shoot. One got made that we gave the a free ad in our first magazine. They said that they can only handle so much work in a year so it mad them mad at us. So if you know anybody who would like to do something like this then pass them our way.

Ok so again why did this up set you? I am lost. So we should not show pictures of Rat Rods because Why? I am sorry. It is hard to keep up some times. I just got done have a phone call from with a car who got mad at us for not having a bigger picture of his Hot Rod in the magazine and we did not give him 20 free copies of the magazine even after he got mad at me for the picture size. The crazy part is he sent us the picture small and it was low res even after we asked him for a bigger one. He then got mad at us for not putting a model by his Hot Rod. He said" why didn't we use photoshop to fix his picture" This is just one phone call to day. I can go on and on and on about the carzy stuff people say to us. I even had a email sent to us say that the model next to his car made his car look cheap and fat. I am not joking. I even asked the car guy to explain it better. He then said the model was to wide and it made his car look wide and old. I could pull my hair out.

"Upset me?" Im not upset. It's your magazine, do what ever you want. You asked for advice, having been a full time magazine editor for 5 years I figured I'd try and pass on some advice which you asked for. Do what ever you want and good luck.

Thats all I have to say about that.
Thanks all for remaining civil! Getting feedback is soooo important from potential readers or users of a service you provide. Sometimes its tough face, and sometimes its exactly what you needed. Kudos to all in this thread!

My 2 cents? Ditch the magazine idea...
Why ditch the magazine idea? We have the free time. And it is fun :)

wow, you'd think people would appriciate te exposure! I know I would. I couldnt say now that I know anyone that would like a magazine feature- apparently its considered a pain in the ass! No wonder there isn't a pin-up mag dedicated to the fashion side of things :(

I'm new to the site and going through and just reading everything to get a feel, and I felt compelled to add my two cents into this little discussion.

I've owned/built everything from full blown totally trick custom sleds to you need a tetanus shot to drive rats. From Old English Iron Bobbers to Psuedo-customs (they are not choppers). I love everything about the Kulture/Culture (depends on who your talking to), and I read every Hot Rod and Rat Rod mag I come across, from cover to cover. I like knowing what the person that built the ride did, and hear a story as to why the car came to be. My ex-GF would ask me 'OMG, where she get those boots, or what make-up is she wearing, oh who was the designer of that dress she's wearing", and frankly I couldn't answer that.

Have a split feature, one for the girl, and one for the car. Throw in some old Bobbers/choppers (not those pseudo customs they call choppers nowadays) or some Old English Iron (Norton, BSA, Truimph) into the mix with a Beatnik Doll doing what they do best, looking good, and personally it would be better than porn.

I'm still trying to recover a lot of my old websites addresses for companies that might be interested in advertising as. Stuff that interest me, an individual that would be interested in reading your mag.
