i want to make my own flowers for my hair but i have no idea how.  what kinda clips do you gals use?  and what do you use to glue them together?  is a glue gun strong enough?  i know this is probably the silliest of question for you pro's but any input would be helpful, thanks!

Well, I've made some of my own, but they are definitely not a sellable standard... so if it's just for your own use then maybe my tips might help, lol.

With mine I have actually bought cheap hair clips that are covered in some sort of plain fabric, mostly picked up very cheap in accessory store sales. I then make the flower decoration and actually sew it on. I found that this works best for me because I hate the thought of glued stuff in my hair, don't ask, I'm just a weirdo, lol.

The main thing with it though is to make sure the clip is large enough to take the size/weight of flower you're attaching to it. I guess that probably goes for glued ones as well?

Good luck with it, it's great to make your own stuff - brings out personality :D
Buying flowers from Michaels is a good start. They are basically a blank canvas to start with. My favorite types of clips are called "clippies" and are short, smooth, metal clips found at any beauty supply store. I use hot glue (haven't had any issues with it), but make sure you put something in the clip to spread it apart so you don't glue it to itself. After that, add glitter, gems, feathers, whatever you want. Hope that helps a bit.

Post up when you've made some, I'd love to see.
I use a hot glue gun and alligator clips. you have to put some kind of covering on the clip though, in order for the flower to slick to the clip (it doesn't stick to metal very well) ;)

Michael's is a great place to get flowers, you can also find them online. for roses and what-not, you're going to have to take the flower apart and make it lay flat, otherwise, you'll look like you have a rose actually growing from your head (it'll stick out really bad).

It's mostly trial and error. Flowers, glue guns, and clips are cheap, so play around with them! ;)
What kind of covering on the clip could i use? I bought some alligator clips since that's what i've found works best with my hair ( i have very thick heavy hair) and i actually bought some flowers at Micheals, so I was planning on just trying to glue them together. but if it won't stick to the metal very well, i'm gonna be stuck like chuck haha

I use grosgrain ribbb in the same width as the clip. Use the glue to glue the ribbon to the clip. Then glue. The flower to the ribbon
Thanks so much for the tips! hopefully i'll get a chance this weekend to try it out :)

Where do you guys find alligator your clips? I've been hunting beauty supliers in my area and can't seem to find them.

Oh and I find epoxy works realy well for gluing odd things to metal barrets
epoxy is good, however, if you cover the clip with ribbon the same color as the flower, or your hair, you can hide the ugly metal part and no one will see it! ((weee!))

as far as alligator clips, you can find them on ebay, or you can use this website: http://www.trimweaver.com/ their prices are reasonable, though their shipping is a little ridiculous. It works in a pinch.
