Things to see and do in LA?

Hey guys and dolls...

Next May my hubbie and I are taking a belated honeymoon to Australia to visit some of my friends and family, we're flying back through LA and spending about 5 days there. We don't have a lot of money so would really appreciate some local advice on what we might be able to do on a budget.

Also - if there are any retro/rockabilly/burlesque/etc events going on around the end of May in LA we might be able to make an exception to our budget restrictions.

Any ideas?

I dont know about any rockabilly events in May in LA, I am originally from there and there is tons to do on a budget, im a big fan of museums. The Getty Museum is great they have a website and are not expensive, the place is gorgeous and has all kinds of art work from religious to modern. For something less mainstream there is T.H.E.M. (The Hollywood Erotic Museum) which is a history and artifacts about sex. It is small but interactive and definately fun. That is all I can think of for now but im sure there a lot of members that might know about events in MAY

Thanks Cupcake :) I actually trained in archaeology and work in a Museum so that's definitely up my street - I had never heard of T.H.E.M, will definitely be checking that out now!

The Back to the Beach car show is at the end of May, in Ventura, about an hour from Los Angeles. Car show, vendors, bands right next to the beach.

lol, I didn't even think of that - though we are on a limited budget so I'm not sure it will stretch... we'll see :D
