I don't know about you girls, but I have to work at keeping my body in shape. One thing I love about pinup is that it is full of real honest to goodness ladies and we are not all shaped the same. The perfect body is not required, but we all want to look our best.

The purpose of this discussion is to talk about exercise tips for the ladies targeting certain areas of our bodies!!! Let us know tricks you have learned or any crazy things you have tried in the past. :)

Ballet. Although I havent taken classes in a few years and its starting to show. But that put my body in the best shape ever.
I can see where ballet would be very beneficial. Don't laugh, but I actually walk around my house on my tip toes when I can - to build up my legs! :) And when I stand still I pump up and down on my toes - it kills!!!

I know exactly what you mean about the part of your upper thighs under your toosh! That area is my main concern right now. What I am doing for that is max incline on the treadmill 30 min. (at least 4 times a week) and a series of lunges and squats. An awesome video to pick up is Carmen Electra's Strip Aerobics (the #2 video in the series - Fit to Strip). You see results FAST! :)
Wii Fit. I love that thing! I'm TERRIBLE at working out, and would love to do it more, but when I can't get into the gym the wii fit works just fine.
My in-laws have a Wii...maybe I should try it out. Sounds fun anyhow!

I agree with you whole-heartedly. I have seen so many girls that would look BETTER if they were the size their body was meant to be. Have you seen people that are bigger boned lose too much weight? Their head is too big for their bodies.

I wish women would learn to embrace what they love about themselves a little more, then maybe the image that is trying to be reached would be different. :)

There is no such thing as the "perfect" body...just a healthy body. All you can do is eat well and exercise. There is no ideal body, everyone is different. Too bad that's not the view of most people today. It's such a waste of time trying to fit into a size zero or whatever when you were never meant to.
Haha! I love the Wii Fit too! I love the yoga for some gentle stretches, but if I wanna feel like I've really done some working out I do ten minute sets of hula hooping. I can't do it in real life, so I love doing it on the Wii! I also tried rowing, and although it worked my heart and toned my muscles, I did end up with beefy shoulders; not exactly the feminine physique I was looking for!

When I am consistent about working out, which is most of the time, I do 60 minutes of cardio most days of the week. I've had weight related health concerns so I have found that it really is the best way to keep the body in the best shape is to do at least some cardiovascular exercise most days of the week even if it's just walking. As far as diet is concerned, I am totally about everything in moderation. I wonder if the girl who writes this blog is here on PL.

Good for you sweety! I try to get in at least 30 min of cardio almost daily - but 60? NICE! :)

You ladies just got me thinking about the Wii thing when one of you mentioned it. My situation is that I don't have any babies or children to care for at home yet and I work full time plus go to a private university with an accelerated learning format and I found that I get lazy if I don't plan it. I go first thing in the morning before work.

Now I am split from my husband (we are childhood best friends and that just does not work sometimes) but we are very close friends still. He has a very sedintary job in IT and he has just packed on the weight over the years. When he comes home from work at night, it's onto the sofa in front of the TV or to the computer to play games he goes!! I worry about him. Maybe for the holidays I should get him one of those Wii?? Maybe it would interest him since it's a computer type of thing? He can't go to gym with me I got to an all women gym. I personally don't think I would use a Wii but maybe I would like it. He never was interested in going with me to gym anyway even when we had a co ed membership years ago. What do you ladies think? I know they are expensive. I'm going to Target to price them today after work.
My goodness do I agree! Mine is 8, and I try to do the same thing. He LOVES the wii fit, that's one of the main things that gets me on it, lol. He also loves wii sports, and although I don't, I'll play it for him. Makes him happy, gets me active. I have not however managed to kick the Taco Bell habit. I've been able to give up all other fast food but that. And I eat A LOT of Taco Bell. I am at my heaviest right now (other then when I was preggers), and I want so bad to get back on track.

This is a great thread idea, keep em coming ladies!!

Since I am the mother of a VERY active 1 and a half year old, I've found it's hard to always get in that 30-60 minutes of working out time to myself, even with my hubby's help. And fast-food drive thru's are quite tempting... So if any of you are in my boat, what I try to do is keep my child involved- putting on the iPod and just dancing around, but secretly throwing in some squats and lunges... hey, they don't notice! To them you're just dancing... or pushing him around the block in his stroller. To fight off fast food I keep healthy snacks in my oversized purse, diaper bag, or compartments in the car. I have banned "excuses". It's been hard for me, I am a self proclaimed Taco Bell junkie (there is no more satisfying fix than a 1 a.m. chalupa!! Maybe that's why I gained 51 pounds when I was pregnant!!) but it's been easier having a few tricks. And the $5 I save from no Taco Bell goes into my son's piggy bank! :)
The Wii consoles usually come with about three games which keep you active enough - especially the Sports one! If you get the WiiFit board you get the corresponding game with that which has loads of activities on there to do. I'm from the other side of the pond, but here they're about £179.99 for the console, and another £50.00 for the WiiFit board and game. They might do a cheaper package, but I'm not sure.

xXx
