I don't know about you girls, but I have to work at keeping my body in shape. One thing I love about pinup is that it is full of real honest to goodness ladies and we are not all shaped the same. The perfect body is not required, but we all want to look our best.

The purpose of this discussion is to talk about exercise tips for the ladies targeting certain areas of our bodies!!! Let us know tricks you have learned or any crazy things you have tried in the past. :)

Well I've definitely NOT lost any weight either, Lisa! I looooove turkey stuffing too much! In fact, I think I could make a meal outta stuffing & gravy alone! lol :) Anywho, I'm not gonna worry about it until January 1st, then I'll get back on track. Good grief, now I'm hungry for stuffing....AGAIN!!!

Hope you feel better soon!

Happy New Year's, Chica!

So, Ladies this thread has been quiet for a while. Are any of you ready to recover from the holiday food-fest? Does anyone have any plans for changing health/fitness habits this winter? I'd love to hear from the rest of you and how the holidays went for all of you ladies. I myself did not really lose any weight but fortunately, I have not gained!! The bad thing is that a cold that I had last month has come back. Happy and Healthy New Year everyone!!
Girls, I have found--unfortunately--that one of the BEST ways for me to recover---is to get mind-alteringly sick with a stomach bug. BUT---I think it was a combination of a couple of things. I hadn't had anything deep-fried in a long time---like since September. Been eating lots of salads, chicken, not much starchy stuff, that sort of boring stuff. My mom made me a HUGE farm-style breakfast when I was up home for Christmas. I was sick the rest of the day, but I felt bad about it. I have since been FORCED back on track. It'll be a lot funnier to me after I stop vomiting everything I've ever eaten, ever. Stupid Stomach Bug! BLECH! Guten Rutsch fur das Neue Jahr, Fraulines!
Well I did pretty good this holiday season and actually was able to lose about 3 lbs, woo hoo, Just 9 more to go before my first goal and I can finally get my hair cut, lol. I'm starting body for life on monday, I've read the book and have heard amazing things about this program, so i'm gonna give it a try no since in not trying it. Wish me luck!!

I did pretty ok for the holidays---didn't gain any weight but definitely went off the diet a bit. Not too bad, though. The holidays are definitely hard.

I'm on track, but I've got to say, losing weight at 41 years old is definitely harder than losing weight at 30. Wow. I'm making big progress, but it's slower than I anticipated!
I've been wanting try a pole dancing class. It's supposed to be great exercise. Has anyone here tried it?
Lisa,

My nieces got a Wii, and my brother loves it! He plays with them every night. He also works in IT, but he "travels" (he works for a school system, and so is in and out of schools, walking around buildings and sometimes climbing into ceilings). Some friendly competition may get you guys going again, too, if that's what you want. Faves of the girls: bowling, golf, Hannah Montana. Faves of their dad (my brother): bowling, golf, baseball, table tennis. Good luck doll!

You ladies just got me thinking about the Wii thing when one of you mentioned it. My situation is that I don't have any babies or children to care for at home yet and I work full time plus go to a private university with an accelerated learning format and I found that I get lazy if I don't plan it. I go first thing in the morning before work.

Now I am split from my husband (we are childhood best friends and that just does not work sometimes) but we are very close friends still. He has a very sedintary job in IT and he has just packed on the weight over the years. When he comes home from work at night, it's onto the sofa in front of the TV or to the computer to play games he goes!! I worry about him. Maybe for the holidays I should get him one of those Wii?? Maybe it would interest him since it's a computer type of thing? He can't go to gym with me I got to an all women gym. I personally don't think I would use a Wii but maybe I would like it. He never was interested in going with me to gym anyway even when we had a co ed membership years ago. What do you ladies think? I know they are expensive. I'm going to Target to price them today after work.
Oh, BOY! You guys are on Point!!! For the last year I've switched through 4 different types of Birth Control. That stuff MESSED ME UP BAD!!! Im a Military/Commercial diver & it made my blood pressure shoot through the roof, made my arms Numb and gave me heart arrythmia. Im 28. Ive never taken the stuff before and it did a number on me. I was sleeping from the time I got off work til it was time to go to work. I got off it about 3 months ago and am just NOW feeling Normal again.... The 1st week off it, I felt like I had a constant caffiene IV for a week straight and I couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night, but I wasnt tired!!!
If there's anything that I have learned, it's that everyone is different. I took gymnastics for 10 years before Joining the Navy. Im 154 lbs and I wear a size 4. I've always been a little thicker than most women & no matter what I've tried, no abs :( To Train for Dive school, I did the 12 weeks to BUD/s ((Navy Seal)) Workout & could do 17 pull-ups & a 7 minute 500 Meter swim (Guess what? Still thick!!!) Crossfit is awesome as well, but it gets expensive. You can go to the website and get some weights and do that! Just don't let it discourage you. Im just built like this... You'll know when you are in shape. You can feel it!!! Im about to start that workout again on Monday. Its pretty intense. You can cut out the hypoxic swimming, but Im not sure how many women are as into this stuff as I am. Just thought I'd share. Thanks!
I love to hoopdance! It is ideal for maintaining a perfect hour glass shape. I lost 40 lbs in 7 months doing it 4 days a week, it is so much fun!
It's the new year and it started off sick for me....bronchitis and a severe sinus infection....anyways...I stopped dieting over the holidays but didn't gain over 3lbs. After Christmas I started doing the Wii Active's 30 day Challenge and I am loving it!!! You definitely break a sweat! I still do my gym time cardio, but only for about 35 minutes every other day! I did switch it up however. The cardio was found in the Women's Health magazine with Pink on the cover....

You can do this either way...walking...running...treadmill...elliptical machine...cross trainer...or bike!

3min easy pace
2min moderate pace
1min hard pace
1min easy pace
1min moderate pace
1 min hard pace
1min easy
1min moderate
1min VERY hard pace...so on and so forth til you hit 28 min!

Than do 2 min at moderate pace (should finish at 30 min) and than finish the last 5 minutes at an easy pace!

***The workout is originally 25 min...but I think 3o to 40 min cardio is better (my opinion)***

I hope this works for you all!!

Another thing I do to keep fit is read. I know, that sounds funny, but reading books and magazines about health, food, weight loss, exercise, etc gives me constant inspiration to keep fit. I read about eating healthy, and I want to do it.

Right now I'm reading "You on a Diet" (although it's not a diet book) By Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz. I love Dr. Oz, and the whole "You" series is great. If you haven't read it, you should, all of them are great books.
Just checking back in on this thread. I'm having a lot of success and I have lost a total of 15 lbs and 2 inches off the waist and hips. Only 8 more to go and now that I've exchanged a good deal of fat for muscle the pounds are coming off.

woohoo!
I bought a mini trampoline from Walmart and have it in my living room. I jump every time a commercial comes on, lol. It's not much for now, but it's a start.

I also just got my hula hoop from www.hoopnotica.com. It's an awesome workout! I can't do any tricks yet, but I'm learning.
