I was just wondering if most of you ladies do your own hair or get it done? When I got my photos they did my hair for me, but I'd love to do it like that all the time. I've tried doing on my own, but it doesn't come out right. It just looks so much easier than it actually is. :) Is there an "easy" way to do it? I can't even curl my hair the way I want it curled. Is a curling iron better or hot rollers or the sponge rollers? Do you curl under or over? I just need some help/tips. Thanks!

Unless it's for a serious photo shoot I always do my own hair. It's fun getting it done and it always looks better when someone else does it. Practice, practice, practice. That's the best way to get better. I also have gotten tips front friends, stylists and you tube. As for curling, I like my one inch iron and hot rollers depending on the style. But before I knew how to hot roller my hair (I still do this if I'm short on time) I set it with my curling iron. Take a piece of hair, spray with flexible hair spray, curl it and them coil the curl back toward your scalp and clip it in place. The warmth from the fresh curl and the spray will help set the curl. I set my whole head, do my makeup and then let the curls down. I then gently comb and smooth the curl into the style that I want. Curling your hair like this is (in my opinion) second best to hot rollers and is great for beginners.

I'm not a model, and rarely am involved in photo shoots. Personally, I like to do my own hair. I might get my hair done in Vegas, for the car show, but I am just not that into elaborate rolls and up-dos. I like wearing my hair down, with a vintage style wave or curl to it and with my bangs curled to the side.

Maybe because I'm older, I just don't think fancy big hair-dos are always appropriate on me, but look great on younger girls.

I do my own, but if I could afford it I would have it done for me EVERY time. I am hair-do challenged. Most of the time it turns out looking o.k. but I am never really satisfied.

always curl under, curling up over gives to more of a corkscrew curl wich i dont thin the most glam.

I use heated rollers in the front section of the hair, and always wind the rollers in the direction i want the rool/curl to sit.
For example for victory rolls part the front section of the hair (from behind the ears forward) part it appropriately, use smaller rollers to create a tighter curl for ease of styling. start with a section of hair closest to the parting and wind the roller inward as that is how the roll will sit when styled.
As for the back section, using a Barrell Curling Iron (remembering to wind under) curl the entire section.

Thank so much for the tips. Sometimes I just have issues with curling. I've been trying to teach myself how to do my hair and makeup and it's definitely not as easy some people make it look.

Thanks. It's actually harder for me to curl under, and it never seems to look right when I do it...but I just have a hard time curling my hair, it just doesn't seem to look or work right. I'd like to check out the Cosmo Lounge...unfortunately I don't have a credit card at the moment.
