if anyone has any pointers or if anyone is interested, please let me know. my biggest goal out of modeling is to see myself in magazines, calendars or anything that i possibly can.
if you can help me out with my journey, it would be greatly appreciated.
In the fetish industry, you just need to work with a photographer who is often published. That is how my friend's got started. I have a good friend who is often in men's magazines and fetish magazines who doesn't have a portfolio, just online portfolios, but she has a name now, because she has worked with photographers who get published. It is the same with the car magazines. Some car magazines, like CK Deluxe and Rods and Custom Culture use specific photographers and if you can get a shoot with them, you might end up in the magazine.
Pin-up modeling is not like fashion modeling. It's a lot more DIY and lowbrow.
I know a way that will help you, but like the Ms. Bombshell says, you need to do a lot of leg work to make it happen. A friend of mine use to go to bookstores, Borders and such, and grab a bunch of magazines off the shelf and find a good spot to work at. Then she would write down all the editors names and email address. She would come home with over 50 address and get to work. She would email them a letter showing her interest, along with a resume of past work along with images. Now she didnt get many replies or the replies were "yeah, we will be in touch" but she did end up with a few Covers from Lowrider, Streetlow, Tailgate, and tearsheets from Import Tuner, The Horse, Car Kulture and more.
Hope this helps. You get back what you put in, and possibly more. Good Luck
check out Hedi Van Horne's article in Java's Bachelor Pad Magazine (you can view it online). She has a "how to" guide into making it in the pin up world. Its my bible now a days.
Networking is also an important part of making it in to magazines. Alot of the the girls I know may not be the most popular models but they still make it into the pages of Hot Rod Magazine because they have networked so well, and "knows someone who knows someone."
