Where's the best Pinup/Tiki/Cocktail/Lounge/Hot Rod culture?

Me and the hubster live in outside the Fort Worth/Dallas, TX metroplex in a small hick ass town called Azle. For two years we desperately wanted to move to Austin and we worked extremely hard to make it happen by Jan. '08, but life decided otherwise so we've just been goin' with the flow since then. It's now a year later though and we're thinking, "Yeah surely we'll get out of this hell h*** THIS year".

And maybe we will. But we've expanded our horizons during this time to consider that there are surely other places in the world that has a lower percentage of squares and a sweet alternative culture where we can FINALLY live the life we've been dreaming of.

Certainly being here on PL it seems that Cali takes the cake on cool, and my bro does live there (military), but being a southern gal I have to admit I do have an impression of Cali that kind of scares me, even though I've been there.

So, what does everyone think? Where is the pinup lifestyle alive and kickin?

Norcal has a perfect balance and you cant get a more diverse "alternative culture" than the SF Bay Area. However the core is in Socal.

Dallas is pretty much dead. Me and my boy live in East Dallas/Garland area, both born and raised. The death of Deep Ellum didn't help much. We've got a few good stores. If you want to know awesome used clothing stores with a good selection I can help.
