"We Are The New Vintage"
Hey Everybody, so this year I will be graduating from college and job hunting to be a teacher. So along with a new job comes both the funding for and the necessity of a new professional wardrobe! So obviously I want to look nice, but still professional, but would still like to dress in my fave vintage styles. I know that obviously i shouldn't be wearing anything low cut or too short or anything, but my question is does anybody know if it would still be considerate for a teacher to dress in the fabulous styles of the 40's and 50's and all? Are there any pinup lifestyle teachers out there with pointers? or parents with a much appreciated point of view on the matter? or anybody who just has a few thoughts to share? please share the love!
<3 Always, Smiles :)
p.s. sorry if their are any other discussions on this topic... but i looked and looked and couldn't find any <3

If you dress in a classic 40s or 50s style you won't have to worry about anything being too low cut or too short. They didn't wear low cut unless it was evening, and most of the time not even then, and nothing was cut above the knee. As long you keep it simple and not too costume I would think that people would be grateful for a woman who dresses with class, instead of how most women dress today.
I should also point out that I was a TA at an elementary school and although the principle had a serious problem with my hair color and tattoos (she was very conservative) she did approve of my wardrobe and I was always complemented on it.
Roxy is right. I found a few representative styles in my shop, and one from another. You will be fashionable, unique and conservative!
I would check out "Mad Men" The 40s & 50's had professional style, as well. The pencil skirt, etc. Fashion is clothing. Style is how you wear them.
Piping in as a parent to agree with Roxy. There are plenty of vintage and retro style items you could wear that would look professional. Good luck with your job hunt!
