Advanced Screening: My Week With Marilyn

So I won this contest and I got to see an advanced screening of "My Week with Marilyn" last night!!! It was great and I also won the book which the director of the film signed. He was there to answer questions from the audience. I was really lucky to win this contest...and even more lucky because I got there early and was able to get tickets. It turned out that even with a pass you still needed to get tickets early or else you were stuck in the rush line. 

So here's a little review I wrote:

The "My Week with Marilyn" movie really was good..I was not expecting Michelle Williams to do a good job acting as Monroe. But she pulled it off, it's a believable performance and she makes Marilyn an intelligent and psychologically complex human being which she was. It's just that people didn't understand her and underestimated her. The supporting actors are also great and the cinematography is just lovely. It's worth seeing on the big screen.

 

I must repeat I was not at all convinced Michelle Williams could be Marilyn but watching the entire film I saw that she really did the best she could as an actor and the performance definitely deserves at least a nomination for the Oscar.

 So there's my two cents...oh and they also had freebies like postcards and posters! I took one of each and of course the photos are lovely just like the film.

All in all it was a great night! : )
