I never think that it's a good idea to jeopardize your safety but if an a****** in public harasses me, I tell him how it is. I don't ever let any man (or woman for that matter) get away with that s***. Maybe Toronto is a hotspot for sexual harassment but this happens to me on a fairly regular basis...I mean I can't stop at a red light on my bike for some reason, even city workers find it OK to scream lewd comments at me. It's disgusting and repulsive when people think it's okay to do some of the things or say some of the things they do.
Maybe it's immature but if guys approach me in a bar and say things that cross my comfort lines, I make sure that he and everyone else in the bar knows he crossed it. I just don't think anyone should get away with sexual harassment... Just because we as models tend to make a bit more effort in our appearance than the average gal, doesn't mean it's an open invitation for awkward conversation or random ass grabbing. *barf*
I tend to block people online, although i did have to go as far as getting a restraining order on one guy, who was stalking me on myspace and ended up turning up at my workplace which i had not advertised in any way shape or form on my myspace page. I also have a close friend that is a police man and he's always on the end of the phone if i need him, even if he's at work.
I've had to change my number several times due to threatening phone calls as well, that was scary, i was basically house bound unless i went out with a member of my family or a really trusted friend.
I've also yelled really loudly at people to not "rub themselves" against my back or whatever they are doing at that particular time, to embarrass them and to also let the rest of the place know what they are doing!
Mimi, that sucks, and is exactly why we've kept PL information on lockdown from public eyes, even your myspace page when entered is not displayed on your profile. Only official websites. If someone wants to get a hold of you they can do so by sending a message =) If that message is a creep, he gets reported, and the Madams take it over from there, and let me tell you, they don't go easy on em!
Virginia, girl I'm happy to hear you say that. More power to you. I think alot of women have lost their voice when it comes to that.
