"We Are The New Vintage"
I think it would be awesome if we all shared a beauty secret or two:
Do you guys have any beauty secrets?

I use Safeguard hand soap on my face. Ironically, it's the soap in the dispenser at work, lol.
I find it works really well for problem skin.
On tough spots that just won't clear up, I pop on some regular old Colgate (or what you have) mint toothpaste & it clears them right up!
Also, when applying foundation (whether with a brush, sponge, or your fingers) make sure your face and tools are damp. I have a spray bottle on my makeup table just for the purpose!
Just spritz once on your face and once on your brush/sponge/whatever & that way the liquid of the foundation won't absorb into your brush & the water on your face "melts" the makeup into your skin, leaving it flawless!
I'm a big fan of any cheap but effective solutions to getting better looking skin. Have been to dermatologists, taken accutane 10 years ago, etc and my pet peeve is having a beauty consultant try to sell me a high-end product that may not work as well as something much cheaper.
That being said, I had am amazing facial once and am thinking of getting one every few months or so--there are so many groupons and living social deals out there now that a a professional facial is more affordable but there are so many types I'm not sure what to get.
Am trying to be better at skin care in general and just bought two cheap exfoliation sponges. we'll see how that goes. the good thing about wanting to do pinup is that it's forcing me to be less lazy about skin care and workouts--OK, I'm still lazy about the workouts but I'll get to them.
Skin -
I swear by my clarisonic skin brush. I have dry sensitive skin that breaks out easily and it has made an amazing difference in my skin! I am so guilty of sleeping with my makeup on as well, and it just really gets the gunk out of my pores with out being too harsh.
I also use the Murad Pomegranate Mask for a little exfoliation boost when my skin needs it.
Hair -
I'm platinum blonde, which is harsh enough with out the fact that I'm actually allergic to hair color, so I can't use most toners. I found a platinum treatment by Pravana called Silk Degrees, it's a vegan toner and works amazing! I usually leave it on a few hours right after a retouch and use it in place of a deep conditioner every other week for 15-20 mins. I also use Paul Mitchell Platinum Blonde shampoo and PM Awapui Wild Ginger deep conditioner and cold water for my hair routine. I also try to only wash my hair once a week, I can get away with it since my scalp is so dry! I just use a dry shampoo towards the end of the week to make it last a few more days.
if you have damaged dry hair, i recomend no poo shampoo 100%. or low poo...it sounds funny but its amazing. it doesnt foam up or strip all the good oils out, and leaves your scalp as clean as a regular shampoo, and reduces frizz, a shine serum makes your hair look healthier too.. and s4u hair cream is the best frizz eliminator ever!
face- yogurt honey and egg yolk mask. Yogurt moisturizes, honey kills the bacteria on your skin and the egg does both. great for sensitive skin!
Apples have alpha hydroxy acid which is an exfoliant but again is super gentle. i just rub an apple slice on my face before bed and it feels so fresh! then i wake up with really even skin
green tea as a toner is also good for evening skin and is amazzzing in the summer to cool you down and refresh you!
running an ice cube over your skin before you moisturize tightens pores and skin up and wakes you up.
also a good steam once a week (boiling water in a bowl, add some essential oil like peppermint which is antibacterial and opens your nasal passages, then put a towel over your head) opens up your pores and gets all the gunk out. amazinnng and so stress relieving.
hair- coconut milk or oil before you shampoo and condition makes my curly, damaged hair really soft and shiny and defrizzes is. my friend from india says this is the secret of all indian women
vinegar before or instead of your conditioner gets rid of build up and makes your hair sooo soft. smells a bit funny though...
i also sometimes mix my foundation with moisturizer for a dewy and light finish when i want to go the "no makeup" route.
and i shave with lotion after my shower. two in one and they dont get irritated either!
and numbing cream before a brazillian is a MUST. :p
