"We Are The New Vintage"
Howdy everyone! I dyed my hair brown a couple months ago and have been bleaching it back to blonde. I want to give myself a perm, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea with bleached hair. I want a perm, but I would also like to keep my hair! LOL.
Does anybody know the least damaging way to perm bleached hair? Or if it's a HORRIBLE idea?
Thanks!

How much does it cost to do that? I never knew!
And thanks all! I know, I was just trying to get an easy out. It takes awhile to do my pin curls....and with 2 toddlers it can be hard sometimes. But I rather keep my hair....Dang it!
Roxy Tart {Madam} said:Lainey, I was wondering the same thing. I have bleached mine back to platinum, and plan on cutting it short, very mid 1950s style. Those women had their hair permed to make the it easier to curl, and I was thinking of doing the same thing. However, after reading this, maybe not. I guess weekly trips to the beauty parlor for wet sets will have to be enough.
great answer!! your hair can only handle so much damage! I do have a question for ya,just wondering what you thought of someone having black dyed hair both from box and pro dye and having it black for 10 years is it possible to remove it? to another color not blonde, because i noticed all non-blondes all have short hair and i like long hair, i know the hair either just breaks off, tears off, like butter over time, when you go blonde...so any suggestions?

Bad idea! Bleached hair cannot hold nor can it handle a perm! Simple fact of hair does and don't.
And I know that it is believed that in the day, women permed and bleached their hair to be able to wear curls. Most often, the perm being very different then, would also lighten hair. The truth is, if a blonde by bottle dye, they were setting their hair in rollers and would go from wet to dry to get the looks we think are permed. Bleached or any color treated hair should hold a roller or pin curl set- taken from wet to dry- for days. You can get ionic hood dryers now for under $50 at any Sally's Beauty Supply to use at home, . Learn how to set your hair and go for it! AND without the risk of chemically burning it off that lovely head of yours sweetie.
And on a side note: Ladies never, NEVER bleach out hair color ladies, that is so old school and so damaging to your poor hair. Professionals use a product that is a Sulfur based pigment remover(zero damage to the hair), to remove hair dye pigment and leave the natural hair pigment, then they bleach it if needed. Bleach simply eats the dye out of the hair while eating away at it. TIP: hair color can't remove or lighten other hair color. Any questions on this matter, please message me, and I will be more then glad to give you my professional advice. My best advice...seek a hair color specialist and stay away from damaging box hair color if you are a model or simply love your hair.
It's definitely NOT a good idea.
