At a show this past weekend I was approached by a couple who is planning a rockabilly themed wedding & are interested in renting my Caddy, with me driving it, to drive off into the sunset for their wedding. We got to talkin' & they're cool people & I think it'd be a fun thing to do...but have absolutely no clue what a fair price for somethin' like that would be. Looks like it'll be about a 350 mile round trip to attend, so it'll obviously take up an entire day or even weekend & I need to take that into consideration...but it seems like a fun road trip to be part of somethin' very special. They're cool kats, so I don't want to quote some crazy expensive price or anything, but I don't want to be stupid about it ya know? Is there a standard price for this kind of thing or do I just charge gas + wear & tear & whatever cash in hand would make me willing?
That sounds pretty cool, and very nice of you to consider it. I don't know what the going rate is but suggest you do some research. In the area you live in, what is the average cost to rent a limo or town car for that length of time and mileage? That will give you a base to work from.
I think most limo companies charge around $100 an hour for their rental fees, if you'd just want to do it that way.
Charging for gas + wear and tear seems like a good idea as well, though. Maybe a little extra for you're taking the time to do it for them.
Sounds like you've got a lucrative little business a'brewin'.
I have charged anywhere from 200 to 500 dollars...depending on the time required. (if I'm just sitting around lower than if we are actually driving around). I've never had to travel that far in distance...So you may want to take that into consideration also. 200 is my minimum. Tips have always been given too!
Thanks for the tips, I'll check out some limo rates both here and in Birmingham...and from here TO Birmingham while I'm at it. Rico, 2-500 is kind of the price range I was guessing also, so it sounds like I'm not too far off base there. Thanks everyone for the info!
