any photographers going to the car show willing to give advice???

So I've had a Canon 50D w/ a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens for some time now but really haven't had a chance to play with it (not as much as I'd like to anyway). I am a hands on person and do not learn well watching videos or reading manuals. I dont know any photographers here in town (I dont get out much). I just want someone who I can hang out with for a little bit that can give good advise on which settings to use in different scenarios. The car show always seems to be an awesome place for taking shots.
