So, I have been having throat issues over the last few days. It's sore and I have no voice at all. I'm desperate. Any homemade remedies that someone may suggest? I've already tried salt water to no avail.

Have you tried tea with honey? Doesn't matter what kind of tea, use which ever is your favorite.
I'm not sure what is causing your throat problems...that changes the remedy. This sounds gross but it helps...mix up about a spoonful of ginger, cinnamon and turmeric (if you have any) and honey in some water. Warm it slightly and then gargle it. Cinnamon, ginger and honey all have antibacterial properties. And cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory. It will taste something like a gritty pumpkin pie. Gargle and spit when you need to and it does give you some temporary relief. Just remember to rinse just your mouth out with water afterwards or you teeth will have spices all over them.
If you don't mind herbal remedies, get some Usnea from a health food store. It is made from tree lichen (moss) and it specifically helps the throat. I thought I had strep throat and I didn't have money for the doctor :( so I drank a dropperful of this in juice several times a day and it realllllly worked. It is an antibiotic too traditionally used for throat ailments. Look it up, it also comes in capsules.
I tried the honey tea thing and so far it's working! :)
This is my favorite:
Take the juice of one lemon, a couple spoonfuls of honey and about a cup of hot water. It may not cure you, but it will make you feel better and taste gooood.
I allways like to have a hot toddy! great anticeptic and opens the sinuses, and can be made as strong as you like. I like to make mine with a splash hot apple cider. so Tea, a splash of apple juice or cider, honey , lemon, brown sugar and other spices you like. and voila! your feeling better!
It's because honey is an antibacterial that it works

there are two different hippie tea companies that make "throat" teas. One is called "throat coat" and the other, i cannot recall... anyhow you can get them at any major grocery store.. they REALLY help, they contain slippery elm extract and it makes a world of a difference.

also, it sounds crazy but a shot of whiskey in a hot toddy does wonders as well. i'm not saying get sloshed, but a single shot can really help cleanse.. ( think back to when alcohol was prescribed for medecinal puroposes.)
yogi tea is the other brand i couldnt remember!
