Who do you channel when you're in front of the camera? Marilyn? Bettie? Jessica Rabbit? I always try to come from a very "Lauren Bacall" place, although I don't look like her. It's all about the vibe.
Well, for me it's gotta be Dayna Delux. I will never, EVER try to imitate or copy anything she does....it's more of an attitude and confidence that I admire about her. I try to channel that in front of the camera. Also those killer facial expressions that just look so darned natural and effortless to her. I hope to one day capture that.
Bernie Dexter is also a GREAT role model and inspiration. She's just so naturally good at what she does. Again the facial expressions, the poses.....woman has it down to a science and she looks like she's not even trying. Of course, I am very adamant about encouraging creation, not imitation. I will never, ever directly try to re-create a shoot or look that any of these ladies have already done. I use them as an inspiration only.
My saying is "Don't imitate, Create!"
I think that confidence and most importantly having FUN at what you do, also being comfortable with the person you are working with and being in front of a camera....that's what it all about.
Also, I can't forget wine. Nothing like 2 glasses of a good Shiraz to relax me and get the creative juices flowing. :) That special glow definitely is there after some great sips of a quality vino........
