Wish I could take credit, but it's not me. However, I think the process would be to score the CD with a sharp knife and then use pliers (or some other grippy thing) to *snap* a piece off. Perhaps tile-cutters or something similar would work to cut pieces? You'd probably need a Dremel to smooth the sharp edges and to drill holes in the pieces for attaching.
