So I really hate doing pin curls but I love the results. Has anyone ever used spoolies? Do they produce a similar result? Or do you know of another gadget for lazy girls?

Thank you!!! They are tricky, but I love the curl I get when using them. It just seems better for me than hot rollers. I can set my hair in about 20 minutes. If I use a bonnet dryer, it takes 1 1/2 hours to dry. I just set the dryer up next to my computer and do work or browse the web while my hair dries.

Probably because magnetic rollers are what I started with, they are not too bad for me. :) If I am going to sleep in them I wear a satin bonnet and I have a soft pillow. :)

OMG Lula - that's a lot of work! You can get the same type of result in 15-20 minutes using hot rollers. Magnetic rollers are a huge pain in the butt! You have dedication! Nothing is worth sleeping in those! I can't beleive you can do that - I am in awe! - truly!

I find that any wet/damp setting holds much, much longer and better than any heat method (Hot rollers- curling iron) used on dry hair. I am so used to setting my hair in pin curls that it takes me no time at all. I think if most people got used to it, they'd find it fast and easy. Plus I think pin-curled hair (with the bobbie pins still in) looks cute with a bandanna. And it's 100% comfy to sleep on. But here in the tropics I am having a really hard time trying to do something acceptable with my hair. It's nearly impossible to resist the urge to pull it back, and I just don't look good with my hair pulled back. It quite a dilemma.
They must only be available right now on the west side of the state. I searched a few Meijers stores around here...no luck. :(

I have some just like this as well! I found mine at Meijers....not sure of that is only in Michigan though.

i have never heard of spoodles.. i want to know more about it...
I embedded the link in my earlier reply, but I realize now that those links can't be seen by folks checking from their mobile devices, so here it is, longhand style: http://www.vermontcountrystore.com/browse/Home/Apothecary/Hair-Care...

Don't worry Sue, I will post before, during and after photos of the spoolies in action, once they come in the mail!

I am getting some too, the larger sized ones. I will also report on how they work for me. :)

Okay gals - so I got 20 of these in the mail today (not enough for my big head) but I did put them in the front section (not too difficult). I am heading off to bed to see if I can sleep with these things on. Will report soon!
Did you get the larger ones (pink) or the smaller ones (blue)?

Okay, well this was a giant waste of time! So I must admit, sleeping on these suckers was not bad at all! What was bad was the way my hair looked this morning! Not curly, and not dry! But fear not! I am not a quitter! The new plan is to take smaller sections, and also sit under the trusty hood dryer. Wish me luck in round 2!
I actually got large and small, but both sizes were pink. Any luck with yours yet? Tips?

I haven't tried mine out yet. I wish I could try them soon, because I am excited about them, but I am waiting for a day when I have nothing planned, because it takes a long time for my hair to dry if I don't use a dryer. And if I am not happy with how my hair turns out I will not have to scramble to figure out what to do with it before having to go out. LOL! I will probably try them out next week sometime.

Taking smaller sections may help with the drying time. If I plan on allowing my hair to air dry, and sleeping in my rollers, I like to set my hair in the late afternoon and by the next morning (mid-morning actually, not too early), my hair is dry. I usually allow at least 12 plus hours for my hair to dry if not using a dryer. It may not take quite that long to dry, but I know from experience that 8 hours is not long enough.

I am not sure about trying them with the hood dryer...if it gets too hot couldn't the plastic/rubber melt to your hair? Yikes!!!
