Well the answer is, "FREAKING SHAVE!!!!" and do it well. Especially before a photoshoot. I hate no, I lode editing arm pits. Its my pet peeve. Something so simple but its not done. Ladies why can you just take of the obvious things. I know my job as a photographer is to take care of my essentials when going on shoots. So i carry my safety gear in my car. Deodorant, Cologne, gum, and shirt. Ok so here'd the topic for discussion, What do you think of this? Whats your pet peeve? Models and Photogs what experiences have you had? This one should be fun.

i agree, if i'm modelling i go over myself with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything is taken care of
I'll keep it short.

If they knew exactly what was to be exposed (legs, underarms, etc,) in said shoot, and they show up stubbly, they need to correct it before I shoot. If they don't, I cancel, and don't use them again.

Seriously, do you show up to a doctor's appointment unwashed? Do you go on a date overly neglectful?

Why would you do, say, a bikini shoot, and not bother to shave in the past few days?

Like punctuality, it's consideration.
I totally agree with you. If you have a shoot, don't go out the night before, get stinking drunk, look like hell, don't shave and show up with bruises and then say...can you photoshop the bags out from under my eyes etc....It cost's us money to pay a graphic artist to do these things you think isn't a big deal. Graphic artists aren't cheap annd unless you wanna pay him, just show up well rested, clean shaven and lookin' good. Just sayin'....
Shave!

I know what you mean. I was viewing some pictures on modelmayham yesterday and the models lack of facial expression ruined the photos. The Photographer knew how to take a photo and had some awesome editing skills, but no amount of editing can change a crappy facial expression.

About the "facial expressions" comment I made earlier...... I don't want my models to be a perfect copy of " Bettie" or whoever but just have an arsenal of looks to help in getting the right look down for the shot, that's all I was trying to say.....
Don't conform!

Girls shouldn't have to conform and feel pressured to shave their under arm pits. However if their job duties call for shaved underarm pits they should be willing to accept this. As Rob Niell said earlier photographers are paid to do the editing & if you're a good photographer you'll know how to edit those hairy pits in a minute. Personally i shave my under arms everyday.

-jane.
ewwwwww....shave that s***.

do i have to bring extra razors in my makeup kit for you to have? geez
shave, when you shower that morning before your shoot!!!!

Also don't drink to much the night before and not shower wtf!
I'm a Hair and Makeup artist and i really don't like when they come in smelling like a gallon of jack daniels.
it's gross

its my pet peeve too .

when you are going to shoot.
Shower, shave, deodorant, brush your teeth & floss!!!!!
just like you were going on a hot date with you man.
Dude. its so simple. why would you ruin a shoot with spiky pits?
I shave and groom EVERYTHING!!!! before a shoot. Unwanted hair is embarrassing. And I like to keep my photos out of photoshop as much as possible.
Well you have a reason to be upset. When i just started shooting my shoots would run 3 hours and i would take about 300 images. I learned that it was pointless and exhausting. Now my shoots are short but sweet. There fun easy and i always love to test shoot before and great shoot. So the model gets a feel for how i am and what i do. Oh as for touching, I will not touch a model in any way unless we know each other. I ask before adjusting a models pose in case after explaining it 10 times they dont get it.

Who doesn;'t shave before a shoot?? That is disgusting! I shave my legs and underarms even when I am modeling long sleeves and pants! You never know! LOL. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I don't get a good number of pics for a looooooong shoot. I mean, for the most part I shoot for free. If I am doing a 3 hour shoot, I want more than 5 pictures! Oh, and I hate photogs that touch me (to move me, usually) without asking! I'm not a child and that's rude!
Of course models should shave before a shooting! ALWAYS!

But I even take it one step further by saying: girls, pluck your eyebrows before a shooting! (unless they are naturally perfect, of course) And do your nails! You don't have to wear nail polish unless you are asked to beforehand, but make sure they are in good condition.
Make up and hair takes enough time and it's YOUR job to do these kind of things at home. A make up artist is a make up artist and not an aesthetician Even though they are ABLE to pluck your eyebrows and do your nails, it's not their job and just costs time!
I mean i understand what you say on time. But its cool im very understanding unless it was noted that its important that they be on time. I know this is L.A. and every thing is 15mins away but traffic makes it seem like its 15 hours away. As for the Pits deal it is common sense. And its even more common sense to just edit it. But its needless and unnecessary. No way in hell id leave a shot looking like they have a cactus is a choke hold. and btw i really like your style in photog.

The whole "Shaving " thing is common sense I believe. The models should know better but sometimes their schedules are so busy or a last minute shoot comes up and they don't have the time. I prefer them shaved but if ya gotta edit pit's or whatever then that's what ya gotta do. They pay us for this editing anyways.....

The biggest pet peeve is being late when at a location. I book a certain time at my locations and I try to respect the owners time and be done in my aloted time. I show early so I can be all set up by the time my models show so they aren't held up either and we get all our shot's in.

Note to new models : Practice the facial expressions !!! Like Roy Varga says " It's all in the face" that's what sells the photo.
Simply put and duly noted

Very smart but they have creams that prevent razor burn
