I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to see it tonight! I'm a little worried, because I heard that they changed the ending...only because the WHOLE novel was ABOUT the ending..ya know? that was the WHOLE story.

However Wenz, I trust your judgment...and I can't WAIT to see it...and if they're doing the re-release UNCUT!, well Chit Meng! I can't WAIT!!!

I love Watchmen!!! (and you, of course) hehe
The fact that they kept Dr. Manhattan naked for the entire time, is totally correct. I thought it was HILARIOUS that guys in the theater were getting all weirded out by the blue penis...fitting, also, because that's the feeling it was supposed to instill (even in the book!) They wanted you to be weirded out and uncomfortable.

Tales of the Black Freighter...they're making it it's own MOVIE!!! woooo! It's being released on DVD later this month!

I loooved the movie. it was exactly what I expected, in every way. they stuck to the book (minus the ending...which was the same concept, different follow-through) and they did RIGHT by the creators! I'm pleased, and I'll be going to see it again before it's taken out of the theater!

anyone notice how in the very first scene, there's a shout out to the movie "300"?

Ok. I watched it... not what I expected, but I liked it. I think that I saw enough blue penis to last me a lifetime though! LOL
I saw it last night (for free too!) I'm still thinking it over...I didn't love it like I thought I would. I still need to finish the graphic novel and compare that ending to the film's. Rorshach was a great character though...I loved the film noir feel the movie had when it followed his story. It was kinda Sin City which I like. But then changes tone...a lot. Some of the music choices were strange I wonder if Snyder himself made the song choices. It was bit distracting...but then again I grew up with my mom and other relatives listening to Simon Garfunkel and Bob Dylan so that took me outta the movie. Probably not a problem for most people...who didn't grow up with hippies! Haha!
Yeah the blue balls everywhere...that was funny. But I'm relieved that if my graphic novels ever get published (please!please!) people won't think I'm such a freak for drawing all the nude scenes. I've heard other artists say they prefer to draw naked people too...Artists are strange folk.
Which brings me to the writer of Watchmen, Alan Moore. Apparently he's NOT happy at all with the film. I read an interview with Gibbons (artist of Watchmen) where he talks about that. I'll try to find it and post it online.
Overall though good movie, people should go see it at least once.

Yeah...it's kinda hard to kick ass in stilettos...ever try it?
And yes I'm a comic book geek!!! I'm outta the closet about that one. : P
Besides if you wanna write/illustrate a graphic novel (which I do) you kinda have to know what came before you. I'd rather not look like an ignorant ass...that's just me though.

Voila! Here's a part of that article I wrote about earlier where they talk about Alan Moore and his involvement (or lack thereof). You can find the rest of it at NOW Magazine's website.

"Adapt or Die" By Norman Wilner
"We’ve seen the X-Men on film, Batman, all these things, and here comes Watchmen the same way it did in the 80s for the comic book world, saying, ‘Okay, you’re all thrilled at the idea of a guy putting on bat-like armour and going out and beating up bad guys – but what if the people he’s violent toward aren’t necessarily bad in your view? What if he’s a bit of a psychopath and that’s why he’s putting on this costume? Who are these people?’”

But where is comics writer Alan Moore in this scenario? His name appears nowhere on the film; the Watchmen movie is officially “based on the graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons.”

To say Gibbons’s absent collaborator wants nothing to do with the film isn’t quite accurate; he told the Los Angeles Times last fall he planned to be “spitting venom all over it for months to come.”

“I hope he doesn’t go way out of his way to s*** on it,” says Tse, “because so many people put their heart and soul into preserving what they could from the graphic novel.”

Gibbons sums up the situation diplomatically.

“Alan has had a very unfortunate experience with movies, particularly with The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and he made up his mind that he didn’t want anything to do with Hollywood any more.

“My secret dream,” says Hayter, “is that he’ll be sitting at home in Northampton and he’ll flick on the TV one night, it’ll come on and he’ll grudgingly start to watch it and then realize how much this whole movie is a love letter to him and his genius.”

Moore may never see the film, but Gibbons has.

“The strange experience for me is this: when you draw a comic book, you kind of close your eyes and run a little movie in your head and freeze the moment. So to sit and watch the movie was like seeing my little movie again.”
