I am heading down to LA tommorow with my girlfriend. We are going to the Stop Staring sale (they are moving to new digs). We were going to go to the WB studio because she thought her bf could get us free tickets. Turns out he cannot.

Can you suggest any shopping or historical things to see? A mazing antique warehouses? Vintage (40s) clothes stores (that dont charge a billion dollars?) Old mansions with tours? Thanks!!!! Muah!

Check out 4th Street in Long Beach. Best shopping in socal. Redwood Bar and Grill has a lot of rockabilly shows, not sure who they have booked this weekend. Brunch Americana at the Redwood on Sundays is always a lot of fun.
Definitely agree with Kim, when I lived down there I was constantly in Long Beach on 4th because the stores are the best. Bring lots of $$$!!
How long shall you be here in LA? There's a great Burlesque show this weekend at the aforementioned Redwood...

Silverlake area is pretty with some cute vintage shops near sunset
We were only down there for two days. But we will be back! Her bf is working on a movie down there and will be there the whole year. We had sooo much fun and intend to go back and explore - so keep your responses coming for next trip!

We ended up the first day doing the Stop Staring sale and then dinner. The next day we drove to the Queen Mary and had a lovely tour - given by the Chaplain and I believe he said acting Captain. We had dinner on board and then by the time we drove back it was 1 a.m. when we reached Berkeley. Oh yes, we also went to a book store in Burbank where every book was $1! Boy did we clean up in there!

We will totally check out the shopping in Long Beach. Oh! Oh! We noticed on the Queen Mary they have a burlesque show. Is that a good one? One of the performers name is Ava Garter. We just LOVED THAT! We must have talked about what a brilliant name that was all the way home! Lol!!!

Ava is a top Burlesque act! Check her out next time.

Long Beach is really becoming the new "hip" part of Socal. You don't want to miss shopping on fourth street next time, but if you go after Viva, some of the best vendors might not have as much stuff!
