Pin Up Influences in Movies: The Rocketeer

Few remember this movie which was released in 1991 but I have always had a particular affection for it. It failed to grab the 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' sized audience it was aiming for but is now a cult classic. The film is based on a series of comic books that were published in 1985/86. In that original story the leading lady was clearly Bettie Page! Her character was renamed (for legal reasons) and played by Jennifer Connelly in one of her first screen roles. The pin up element barely survived the transition but Jenny Blake is still rather glamorous.

I wish I still owned this one, lost the video somewhere, so sad. I love this movie...think I'll try to find it again... amazon, here I come!
