So a question to all the artists here and anyone else..why the pin up girls? Why do you like drawing, painting or looking at pin up girls? What is it about them that's so interesting to you?
And also how did you get into pin up art in the first place?

I love drawing and painting because i love beautiful women. I love there curves and it makes me happy.
I started drawing them at age 13.
Having always been a bit self conscious about my own figure I've spent a lot of time dreaming about the figure I wish I had. So instead of beating myself up about it, I've found my outlet though painting pin ups. I've always had this longing to be a tall, curvy, amazon vixen with legs for miles! Better yet an Amazon from Outerspace!! Although I wasn't gifted with the body of my dreams, I was gifted with the ability to create it through my art. I know I'll never be brave enough to pose in front of a camera but when I paint my girls, I paint them with all the confidence in the world. I put a little bit of my soul and personality into each piece and I like to think the intimate connection I have with my work shines through. All in all its been a great experience and I'm really glad this is the direction I decided to take with my art.
Thank you for sharing this!
Reading your story, I realise that that's probably part of the draw for me too. I've always been tall and conspicuous, so I like to draw more compact bombshells! ;) And let's not forget the whole "living out your fantasies" thing either - "Amazon from Outerspace" exactly!

Thanks for the replies. I think it's interesting to think about where and these things come from..that's why I started this discussion. And honestly I can't quite figure out why I'm so obessed with drawing pin ups..I've been drawing some kinda pin up girl since I was about 8 or probably earlier. My brother says it has something to do with me being a "lesbian". Uh yeah...sure maybe. My whole family suspects that (rolls eyes) as if there's something wrong with that. Yes, I'm bisexual..maybe that has something to do with it but it's NOT the whole story.
Glad you could relate to that! There are so many reasons I do what I do but I felt that was the most heart felt response I could give. After spending buko bucks on art school and many hours of life drawing later, I thought it would be a good idea to put the practice to the test! Besides I've never been any good at drawing male figures try as I might they always kinda looked A sexual haha!

Gee...I would like a more interesting and in depth answer...I read alot of books on psychology, sociology, philosphy, politics, etc..yes, I'm a geek. Oh well, if that's what you think of it then that's what you think.
