What's Your Take on Model Mayhem?

So, I'm brand spankin' new to the modeling thing (as in, first shoot this week) and I've heard quite a bit about MM. Two things I hear is 1) the girls on there are pretty competitive and will get pretty catty and 2) if you just post pics the offers will come rolling in. My question: true? are the girls really that mean? I don't get along with girls often b/c of this very reason (can't STAND all the nastiness). AND is it really that easy? what have your experiences been? I'm pretty intimidated about the whole experience, but I want it so bad! This site seems so genuine and all the people seem so nice and supportive, but there isn't a very good representation of FL (hopefully that will continue to change!) so getting and MM account seems like it will up my chances of breaking in to the field.

I know this discussion is all over the forum, but IM SO NERVOUS! any tips? specifically on how to chill out in those few nerve-wracking moments before the camera starts clicking?

I used to love MM when I first signed up, but over time I have developed and intense hatred for it and hardly ever log in to my page any more.

No matter how many times I reiterate over and over that I am focused on one goal: MODERN PINUP and that I DON'T DO NUDES, still all I get is offers for stuff that I THOROUGHLY explain on my page that I am NOT interested in!!
I get so mad, I ask people when they message me "Did you take the time to read my profile at all???" Then they get all butt-hurt, but I don't care because what I am there for is spelled out in black and white on my page. So if you didn't take the time to find out anything about me before you messaged me, then that's your own fault.

I also can't stand the b*******, moaning, arguing and p****** matches that go on in the forums. If people would just grow up and take a chill pill, those forums could actually be quite useful.

So, my take on MM is........big annoying thorn in my side every time I log in......f*** it!!

Hey! I've been on MM for around 2 years now. Here's what I've got...

1- Cattiness? Haven't run into it myself... But, I don't really socialize on MM. I just use it to contact photographers. I steer clear of the forums and I think that's probably where the unpleasantness happens.

2- Will offers will just roll in? Well, yes. They will. Especially in your first week. And often from sketchy guys and not-so-great photographers. Not always, but often. It's like they smell fresh blood in the water... haha...

Ultimately, you'll get from MM what you put into it. If you want to work with great photographers, seek out great photographers. Be professional and you can't go wrong. :)

I've had people offer shoots but they stop replying to me, so I dunno what that's about.

I look at the casting calls, but they always specify body size, even if you're supposed to bring your own clothes. I've tried networking on there, but being a larger lady, it seems like I'm doomed to failure over there!

I'm on NetModel as well, but because they don't have an approval process for people, the place is full of people with horrendous myspace-style "taken in my bathroom mirror trout-pout" photos and 'photographers' who seem to only like 'photography' as a way to spend time with young, near-naked girls. The number of men saying "Want to do lingerie/nude pics. Have booked hotel room" is rather too high for my liking!

I spose most people have encountered sleazes - a friend of mine did when she went to London for a shoot. The photographer picked her up from the station and said "I usually end up sleeping with models after the shoot." Ewwwwwwww....!!! Sleaze-bag!

I was on MM initially as a model but because I'm short and not slim, I have trouble getting photographers working with me.  I also have a photographer account but have trouble getting models (in Toronto) because I'm only really interested in pin up photography.  There's also a big number of flakes.  Maybe because they don't like my work. LOLz.
