Sometimes the magic jus doesnt happen

So this last weekend I planned an old school drive in photoshoot
complete with servers on skates and some bad ass rods and classic cars-

heres a pic of what couldve been for ya!

Didnt happen sadly, very little girls showed up and to make matters worse,
two girls started fighting!

I canceled the shoot, leaving a distasteful mark against doing any more
free shoots.

Instead of quitting altogether, Im gonna make these more exclusive
in the future.

Meaning a certain amount of girls only, and serious girls must
bring their own stylists.

I decided to pay my stylists 100 bucks each for a wasted and fruitless day.

On the bright side I got to see old friends and have family time with my
baby girl, go shopping and bake some pumpkin pie.

not too shabby for a weekend I guess ;)

Has this happened to anyone else?

No PL people, I had these girls from Model Mayhem and they brought their friends
plus a few from a couple other sites and Myspace.

I think PL has very professional people and an extensive amount of information
to help new models be on track for shoots etc.
I made my TFP work exclusive to girls and vendors here.

But Dulce (my grandmas name love it!!) You cleared up something for me that I've quite often wondered which is generally how much control you have over the photos (such as where they are posted and to benefit whos port) when if someone were to pay for a shoot.

Every photographer I've known has had a model meyhem disaster - it doesn't harm your cred :)

Im glad to have helped and feel better to be re assured about whether or not
the day was bad PR for me.

Copy Right Law is different in many states so you should take a little time to
check it out where you live. its also subject to change when new people step into office.

Knowing your rights can protect you and your work from malicious use or you from
losing money.

That is SO sad... You had a fabulous idea, and it would have been an AWESOME shoot!!!

it happens, I guess. I've had a couple of similar things, but not on such a scale-my comiserations though. I'd echo NolaChics comments-where possible, meet with the model(s) beforehand, and maybe reserve high cost, high risk shoots like this one was for models you've already worked with, or know and trust personally.

And, don't be giving in-sometimes, no matter what, the magic just isn't there, but you know-when it is, boy does it make it all worthwhile!

I will come back and give this shoot another chance but this time
I have to be picky and have had good contact with models.
this next time I'll have a MUA on staff (shes local) so I wont need to worry
too much about costs.

I'll post up the complete set here when Im done <3

sorry to hear about the foul luck. Id be quite irritated if I were you. I wish you better luck in the future and you seem to have centered on the positive aspects of the day. good luck!
