YUM this thread made me so hungry!!
Thats one thing about chicago I love.. the diversity of foods.. and the fat calorie intake they come with!!
Portillos: I know theres on in Buena Park, California now.. you lucky ducks!! this is a "combo" its a beef sandwich with YES a polish in it! HOLY CRAP pair this with the chocolate cake shake .. yes a chocolate shake with an entire piece of their chocolate cake (made with sour cream and cream cheese frosting) blended in- and you got yourself a MEAL! well.. a few meals in my case!! YUM FOR FATT FOOD!!
OH AND I FOUND THIS:
YUM YUM!!
OMG YES!!!!!!
The first time I ever witnessed the glory of poutine was at the Saskatchewan River Crossing cafeteria :D I took a photo - I had never seen anything that... large and weird and really, kinda gross masquerading as food before. Now, I EAT IT! Hahahahahahahaa!!
I. AM. CANADIAN.

I had to Google poutine as well! I'm familiar with gravy fries (and was very disappointed to learn that Coloradans had no idea what I was talking about when I moved out here), but the addition of cheese has never thrilled me. HOWEVER... that photo looks not like cheese, but cheese CURDS, and you may have melted my cold, stony heart!

It is, indeed, cheese CURDS (of woe).
And: I add cheese SAUCE to the whole miserable concoction! 'Cos, you know, only live once blah blah blah.
There's a place that does gourmet poutine; it includes lobster and I believe truffles... or it could be foie gras. Must be in Montreal somewhere. The live sans fear, avec butter ;).

I actually had to to google poutine, I had no idea what that thing was...
Back when I lived in Baltimore is was pretty easy to find a place that served fires with gravy. Damn but that was good...
