Well in these tough economic times many people are losing their jobs & homes and with the rising price of Gasoline and Food many people are finding creative ways to cut back cost. Like switching from name brands to cheaper alternatives, eating in instead of dining out, and purchasing air flights that fly at unusual hours to save dollars on airfares. I've done a lot of cutting back.....It's been about a month and I haven't had a piece of fried chicken! AHhh Im about to go insane! as a result of cutting back I'm loosing weight.....I'm still unsure if i want to loose weight I was happy with my curves and lumps and now I'm slimming down....Hum? This is what I call cutting back
Paper Food!

Anyway What are some of the things you've cut back on PL?

I hear you Lil! The recession has hit us HARD here on the home front. I used to go shopping once a month for our "big" shopping trip to get most of what we needed. Then I would go about once a week to get the essentials i.e. bread, milk, eggs, formula, diapers....WELL, now I go through the sales ads every Tuesday when they come and I buy ONLY what is on sale. I cant afford to do anything else. Trust me, I have ALWAYS been a bargain shopper. It is in my blood. I really never buy anything full price and I usually buy generic. But now, I cant buy what I want to eat. I have to buy what I can afford to eat. For my husband and the kids, they dont really notice the difference but I on the other do. I am a picky eater, for selfish and health reasons. I cannot buy the treats that make me smile anymore, or at least now I do it on a once-in-a-while basis. I unfortunately am NOT losing weight like you Lil (biotch!)!!!! I am now actually drinking slim fast twice a day to cut back on my food intake and my calories. With the price of food, slim fast is actually cheaper than a meal. I now buy the cheapest of the cheapy diapers just to cover my kids butts. I have two in diapers and one in pull-ups!!! COSTLY! We all must still wipe our a**** and t.p. aint getting any cheaper either!!! Something needs to be done about this whole mess! I mean, no one should EVER have to choose between food for their families or the bills being paid.
Okay...I am done ranting...for now! haha
yeah im being hit hard too. if you mess up just a little on payments of things, its not like warning and then a slap on the hand they are biting and just punishing you. my car was taken from me in the dead of night because i fell alittle behind on my paymnents, so cutting back is a must, im walking more(obviously ) but i think i will continue to do so after i get my car back and just eating in more. good luck hun!
I've definitely cut out my morning Starbucks latte. $3.70 a day, 5 days a week, for 48 weeks... that's $888 a year! However, I'm very lucky in that one of my clients barters with me, so I do her graphic design and she delivers tubs of organic produce right to my door. As long as she needs things designed, I won't starve!
I shop at the Grocery Outlet and try to get more creative with what I make to eat. It's kind of fun to see how far I can stretch it!
SO JEALOUS! I want some free organic produce! haha

I havent cut down on anything that I can think of, but i'm VERY irresponsible. I think Desi has made us adjust some stuff here n there tho, I just dont notice the target chicken over some Tyson haha
I'm lucky I work at a coffee shop and my boss feeds me, thank god

Yup my Diet Consists of licking my receipt book Hopefully i get full of the ink LOL....I hear paper has a lot of FIBER ...Fiber get it LOL I'm a dork
My husband and I are truly blessed, we both work full time @ very good jobs. He's military...(pay isn't great, but the incentives pay for themselves!) and I work for a computer company. We have always put 50% of my bi-weekly pay into savings, and 25% of his into the same account. The rest is for bills/ necessities.

That being said, we've always been crazy frugal. We shop at Costco (with 3 kids it's MORE than saving!) and we stock up on food/supplies so much that it makes our backroom look like our own grocery store! the good thing, is that we never run out of anything.

I cook every day/night, and we rarely ever go out (except date night, once a week...economy or not, date night is non-negotiable)

we have netflix instead of renting individual movies, or going to the theater. we always buy the cheapest gas, we buy generic brands of meds and beauty products/toiletries.

p.s. Lil, that cookbook looks YUMMY!!! **mmmm...paper**
Cup of soups
Top Ramen delights
Buying groceries at the Dollar stores
Splitting a baby burrito
Costco date
5 dollar foot long
Bakery outlets
and coupons out of your next door neighbors Sunday paper .. it is a way of life
keep the sunny side up
Been a long time since we've seen this post, thought it needed to come back to the front.
