Ok.. so i was looking at this new site thing, pinupparkinglot.. or whatever.. it seems like, to me, that a LOT of pinup models are getting more and more edgy.. or.. naked..
I know there different categories of modeling, but where does the line get drawn as far as pinup style portfolios??
is this pinup?

My vote

very elegant porn.
It's pin-up style/inspired fetish. I agree with Poppy, porn is smut smacked together in dingy rooms with no thought put toward editing out the nasty stuff... look how pretty these are! I looked at all of them and they're just so colorful and posed, hair and makeup, costumes, color schemes and lighting... there was a lot of thought put into them.
There is definitely too much sexual openness displayed to be just pin up, but many of those girls had the pretty, clean, colorful pin up inspired looks which makes it fetish. Either that or the prettiest damn porn I've ever seen!
That's porn! ugh I hate it! Ruined my last marriage!
Yeah...porn IS BAD! (just my opinion!)

I don't know if porn is good or bad; I think it depends on how it is used and the individual doing the using. Like everything, it can be abused.
HOWEVER. Porn insults my intelligence and THAT I will not tolerate.
I feel that any style of alternative modeling can be considered "fetish" because it is not the norm. I would say a lot of people who enjoy "pin-up" are fetishists about it, me included. The things I enjoy or have a fetish for are certain characteristics that most people include in their "pin-up" or better yet "retro" look (i.e.: stockings, garters, corsets, red lipstick, etc). This is why I am drawn to that particular look.
I think perhaps the term "pin-up" is very loose. I don't feel it necessarily applies to the 50's look/style. I feel like a Maxim girl is a "pin-up." Most modern glam and even fetish modelling can be considered "pin-up." Many genres can fall into this category. I try to separate "retro/classic/traditional" with "pin-up" or think of it as a genre within “pin-up.” Of course this is my humble opinion and I do not consider others right or wrong. Everyone has there own way of expressing themselves :-)

p.s another thing to consider; the pics we think of as real pin-up from the 40's and 50's were pretty racy for their time and some might have even consider them to be porno. Are we not just keeping with the times?
Also I'd like to mention that MOST of the Pin Up Parking Lot is your favorite modern retro styled pin-up beauties like Dayna Delux, Sabina Kelley, Heidi Van Horne & Bernie Dexter. This site is pretty damn awesome in my opinion! And it is so nice to see more outlets for this culture!

Go to any magazine store and look for the leg and shoe magazines. The first few pictures are usually amazing and very pin-up inspired. It quickly devolves into a major shoe fetish and porn.

Uh, not that I read those magazines or anything.

I agree that they are all connected. And I also agree Pin-Up never went away it evolved. Look in our local newspaper. Every morning there is a new Sunshine Girl that I have seen Pinned-Up many places.

Nothing wrong appreciating a women in heels and stockings. It's always nice to look if you're going to let us.

Right, that was kind of the point in the beginning.. i thought it was a pinup / car site.. and the pinup portfolios had fetish photos in them.. so i was wondering why they were considered pinup.. i love the site.. i mean its got way more than just pictures of lovely ladies.. It just made me think.. and when i think, it can be dangerous! however.. it turned out to be a great topic.. i love the opinions!

I consider a shoe fetish being a fetish for nice shoes. At least all the women I have met, and men, that truly have fetishes for shoes....it was always nice shoes...one guy, it was red shoes. I have never, in my life, met anyone who had a fetish for clear, light up, stripper shoes. never.

that being said, I do not think that fetish is the new pin up. there have always been fetish photographers, and fetish Models. Take Bettie Page, for example. She had clearly done Pin-Up work (fully clothed cupcake style photography) and then she had her fetish photos with photogs like Irving Klaw (lots of bondage, lingerie, and leather)

They were clearly separate genres of photography. The proof is in the puddin' my friends; Go to Google Images, and google "pin up" and then "fetish". They are most definitely different things. and with that, I'm done. ;-)

I would say that both of these are more Fetish than Pin-Up.

That being said, they both have a Pin-Up "feel" to them...the hair, the lighting...although, in both photos, the women look like they're having orgasms....def. NOT Pin-Up.

Beautiful Fetish photos though! (and I agree with SF...what is she doing with that SHOE??? I mean, I love my shoes...but DAMN!)

If they were stripper shoes then it would defintely porn.
Shoe Fetish.;)
